The Hart family have been sent for therapy after a brawl during a custody hearing. Reba (Reba McEntire), 46, is a member of Junior League and a soccer mom. Brock (Christopher Rich), who is divorcing Reba, is a 48-year-old dentist. Daughter, Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) , 17, is a high school senior and girlfriend of Van (Steve Howey), star of the high school football team. Twelve-year-old Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) expresses her bottled-up anger with sarcasm. The youngest is 9-year-old Jake (Mitch Holleman). Brock says he won't be moving back home because he is marrying his 22-year-old girlfriend and dental assistant, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman). Having heard enough, Reba declares that Brock will move back home, find another way to express his midlife crisis, and not break up the family. Brock says he has to marry Barbra Jean because she is pregnant. Jake blurts out that Cheyenne is also pregnant. Later that day, Reba and Brock discuss the situation with Van and Cheyenne. Reba cannot believe that she got pregnant after all of their discussions about sex. That night, Reba discovers Van hiding under Cheyenne's bed and he explains that his parents kicked him out. He drops to his knees and proposes to Cheyenne. Brock declares that Cheyenne is not going to throw her life away on Van, but Reba reminds him that he dotes on Van as if he was Brock's son. The couple will marry on Saturday and they will keep their baby. Brock initially refuses to go to the wedding, but arrives with Barbra Jean on the wedding day. Cheyenne and Van get into an argument because he wants to play football that night, then go on their honeymoon. In moments, the family is brawling again and Cheyenne's wedding dress rips. Reba comforts Cheyenne and tells her they have to face reality. Cheyenne asks Reba if she can wear her wedding dress, instead of the slinky one she had planned on, which pleases her mother. They have the wedding and the strange new family poses for photos.

Season 1. Episode 2: The Honeymoon’s Over or Now What

Reba (Reba McEntire) greets Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and her husband Van (Steve Howey) when they return from their honeymoon. The next morning the couple discuss their sex life in front of Reba and she tells them they cannot display or discuss physical affection in front of her. Cheyenne insists that Van wear his wedding ring to school, but Reba cautions them that the news of marriage may shock people at school. Cheyenne is not fazed. Later that morning, Brock (Christopher Rich) comes by the house with Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman). Reba gets a call from school asking her and Brock to meet with the principal. High school principal Mrs. Hodge (Julia Duffy) suggests that Cheyenne attend a school for pregnant teens to protect her from criticism, but Cheyenne refuses to attend the new school. Mrs. Hodge is angry and invents a reason to expel Cheyenne. Later that day, Brock brings Barbra Jean with him to family therapy at Dr. Peters' (Nell Carter) office, to Reba's displeaseure. Reba explains that she will keep Van at home until Cheyenne is reinstated at school. Reba knows one of the biggest football games is coming up and Mrs. Hodge will want to win so badly that she will allow Cheyenne to return in order to have Van play. Reba knows that in Texas a losing season is more embarassing than a pregnant teenager. However, on game night, Mrs. Hodge has still not called and Reba admits she might have been wrong. Brock wants Van to come with him to the stadium and play, but Van chooses to stay with his wife. Reba says she is proud of the family for choosing the right path. The doorbell rings and it is Mrs. Hodge. The team was booed during warm-ups and she has decided to readmit Cheyenne. Cheyenne refuses to go back, so Reba pulls her aside and urges her to make good choices. Cheyenne says she will return to school, and Mrs. Hodge imposes no-touching, no-kissing rules for the newlyweds. Reba admits that she does not know how to deal with married teens.

Watched by Kyra (Scarlett Pomers), Van (Steve Howey) moves his tacky teen belongings into Cheyenne's room and makes a mess of the house in the process. Kyra and Reba (Reba McEntire) anticipate that Cheyenne will be upset when she sees her room, but she says she loves it. Later, while Reba and Cheyenne wait in the gynecologist's office, Cheyenne admits that she does not like Van's redecoration of her room. Reba tells Cheyenne that she has to tell Van how she feels. Reba is stunned when Brock, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) and Jake (Mitch Holleman) emerge from an examining room, and an argument begins over whether it was appropriate to bring Jake there. Cheyenne is embarassed, Brock storms out, and Van arrives. Cheyenne makes a show of telling Van how much she loves him. Later at home, Barbra Jean returns Jake, who had ice cream for dinner. At the end of her rope, Reba forces Cheyenne to confront Van. Angry, Van leaves. Cheyenne says that she kept her opinions to herself so she would not drive Van away, just as Reba drove Brock away. The next day, Reba visits Dr. Peters (Nell Carter) alone. The therapist says that when life is chaotic, people become obsessed with controlling smaller things. Reba realizes that her controlling behavior has not made anything better. Cheyenne visits her dad, says that Reba ruined her marriage, and asks to move in with him. Saying they cannot live with him, he assures her that Van will come back. But when Cheyenne refers to Reba driving Brock away, he says she is wrong - Reba is amazing for staying with him for as long as she did. At home, Reba explains to Kyra that she is trying to loosen up. Kyra reveals that Cheyenne went to ask Brock if they can move in with him and Reba gets angry at Cheyenne. As Cheyenne wonders whether her mother wants her to leave, Van announces that he is getting rid of his stuff to make his wife happy. Cheyenne tells Reba that Brock made her realize she was wrong about a lot of things.

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) is suffering from morning sickness, and while Reba (Reba McEntire) is sympathetic, Van (Steve Howey) has no idea what to do. Later on, Van confides to Brock (Christopher Rich) that he is exhausted because Cheyenne is sick all the time. Brock says that Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) does not have morning sickness and believes that it is largely mind of matter and can be shaken off. Van tells Cheyenne what her father told him, and she cannot believe he is serious. Meanwhile, Carolyn (Julia Campbell), the mother of one of Jake's (Mitch Holleman) friends, is uncomfortable with sending her son Robbie (Dylan Charles) to play at Reba's house. She admits to Reba that she is unhappy about things that are going on at her house. Reba assures her nothing is going on, but she is angry with Carolyn for not being honest with her. Reba refuses that Jake goes to Carolyn's house anymore, but Jake asks to go to Robbie's house the next day. Cheyenne and Van go to Brock's condo for dinner, but Cheyenne is feeling queasy. Barbra Jean pulls Cheyenne into the kitchen and reveals that she has morning sickness too. She pretends to eat to keep Brock happy and suggests that Cheyenne does the same thing. Later on, when Cheyenne can't pretend any longer, she says that she is sick and Barbra Jean is too. When Cheyenne and Van return home, Van tells Reba he will take care of Cheyenne from now on. The same night, Reba comes to Carolyn's house to say that Jake can see Robbie. She is not going to ruin her son's friendship because Carolyn does not trust her. Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) decide that after the next football game they will go out separately with their own friends. Doing what Brock always did, Reba sticks a rake in the disposal, where it gets stuck. The next day, Bill (Greg Evigan) the handyman comes over. Brock and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) arrive, bringing Jake (Mitch Holleman) home. Brock is upset that Reba has called a plumber. Bill suggests that Reba replace her faucet, and offers her to use his discount at a fixture store. Brock realizes Bill is hitting on Reba and becomes irritated. That night, after the football game, Cheyenne and her friends pull their minivan next to the team's bus, and moon the bus. When Van sees "Go Van" written on a derriere, he knows it is his wife's and tries to prevent his team from looking. Later, Reba discovers that the faucet needs to be replaced. Brock insists that Bill has rigged the faucet to fail. Defying Brock, Reba calls Bill and arranges for him to pick her up to go faucet- shopping. Brock says it is a date, but Reba denies it. Later that night, Van is not happy with his wife. She claims the mooning incident made her feel free - until Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) comes in and shows them a photo of Cheyenne's rear end on a Web site. Someone created an online contest, pitting Cheyenne's derriere against the other girls' rear ends. Now distraught, Cheyenne asks Van to help her. The next day, Bill arrives to pick up Reba. He is clean, combed and neatly dressed. Reba realizes it might be a date, and she is uncomfortable. At the plumbing store, Reba enjoys herself with Bill. Later, however, Bill tries to kiss Reba, but she deflects him to her cheek. She lets him know she is not ready to date yet.

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Reba (Reba McEntire) argue over whether or not Cheyenne should be responsible for doing her own grocery shopping and laundry. Later, Cheyenne and Van (Steve Howey) return from grocery shopping empty handed, saying they have decided to get an apartment. They ask Reba and Brock (Christopher Rich) for money to finance the apartment, but they both refuse, and Cheyyene suggests that they contact Van's wealthy parents. Van returns from his parents' house with a new car and tells Cheyenne they have invited them to move in with them. Van and Cheyenne begin moving their things into the Montgomery home, but Van did not realize that his mother, Sue (Carolyn Hennesy) and his father, Dan (Sam McMurray), only wanted him to move back in. He does not tell Cheyenne, but talks to Reba about it, and she encourages him to express his anger and tell his parents what he thinks. Reba goes with Van to confront his parents, but when Dan insults Reba, Van tells his father that Reba is a much better father to him than Dan ever was. Van gives the keys to the truck back to his father, and leaves with Reba. Later, Van tells Cheyenne that his parents did not want her to move in, and they both agree that they would rather see Reba every morning at breakfast than Sue. Meanwhile, Reba is concerned that Brock and Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) are not spending enough time together, so she arranges for them to go out on a date for face-to-face conversation. Neither Brock nor Kyra enjoy themselves at dinner, and instead, decide to go to a movie so they do not have to talk. When Kyra returns home, she lies about what they did, and Reba knows immediately that they went to the movies.

Season 1. Episode 8: Don't Know Much About History

Van (Steve Howey) has flunked a history midterm and is ineligible for the football team, so Brock (Christopher Rich) persuades Van's teacher to give him a make-up test. Brock pressures Van by saying the team cannot win without him. Van knows the material, but is having trouble answering the questions correctly because he thought his entire future in college, pro football and life was riding on the test. Van takes the test again, but fails. Meanwhile, Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) has given up the clarinet to play tuba in the band because she has a crush on Bryan (Shawn Pyfrom), a handsome boy who also plays the tuba. Kyra invites Bryan over to practice with her, and she is flattered that such a good-looking boy is taking an interest in her. Later, Reba (Reba McEntire) convinces Van that there is more to life than football, and encourages him to try a new activity. The next day, Van annouces he has gotten a small part in the school play. Brock arrives reporting that the history teacher will give Van the test again so he can play in the game on Friday. This causes Van to feel conflicted becasue the play is also on Friday. Feeling pressured by Brock, Van chooses football over the play. Reba scolds Van and says football is making him miserable because everyone has high expectations of him. Van decides to stick with the play and is happy. Later, Bryan crushes Kyra's hopes when he asks her to find out if a girl named Melissa likes him. After Bryan leaves, Kyra explains to Reba what happened. She realizes that though she changed to the tuba to sit near Bryan, now she is stuck with the instrument. Reba asks Brock to convince Kyra to give up the annoying tuba. After the play, Cheyenne, Reba and Van relive his performance. Brock comes in and hesitantly tells Van that the team won without him. Van is happy that the team does not really need him, and now that the pressure is off, he can play again.

Season 1. Episode 9: Every Picture Tells a Story

When Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) feels the baby kick for the first time, it overwhelms Van (Steve Howey) and makes the baby seem real to him. Reba's (Reba McEntire) old friend Lori Ann (Park Overall) arrives to tell Reba that she is moving back to Houston, and encourages Reba to get out and have some fun. Brock (Christopher Rich) and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) stop by and Lori Ann cannot believe that Reba tolerates Barbra Jean. Reba explains that she does it for the kids because they need to see their father. Later, Van reads about pregnancy and is facinated, and says he will do whatever he can for the baby. Lori Ann helps Reba sort out Brock's possesions and Reba reminisces about old golf clubs that she gave to Brock when they were newly married. They find a picture that implies that Brock cheated on Reba with Barba Jean before they were separated, and Reba is shocked. Reba confronts Brock about the picture, but Brock insists that he started seeing Barbra Jean after they were separated. Reba does not believe him. Reba and Lori Ann go out for drinks, and Barbra Jean shows up, explaining that she was not with Brock at the time of the picture, but rather with another married dentist. She asks Reba not to tell Brock. That night, Van refuses to let Cheyenne eat chocolate or watch television, saying it is not good for the baby. He admits he is going overboard, but wants to be a good father. Reba comes home to find Cheyenne sleeping on the couch because Van keeps waking her up to ask if she is sleeping well. Reba remembers that Brock did something similar when she was pregnant. The next day Reba apologizes to Brock for jumping to conclusions the day before.

When Reba (Reba McEntire) buys lunch for Lori Ann (Park Overall), her credit card is declined. She cancels the credit card thinking it is stolen, but instead, finds out that it is Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) who is using it to buy things for her wedding that Reba knows nothing about. Reba confronts Brock (Christopher Rich), who apologizes for handing the wrong card to Barbra Jean. He tells Reba they are getting married in two weeks in the Virgin Islands, and asks Reba to sign a form that will allow him to get married before the divorce is final. Reba refuses to sign the form. At home, Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) find out that Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) has skipped school, and instead of telling Reba, they practice their parenting skills on Kyra. Their punishments fail, and Kyra decides to confess to Reba since Cheyenne and Van are terrible parents. Days later, Brock tries to persuade Reba to sign the form to let him and Barbra Jean get married. At a store, Barbra Jean uses the credit card, but it is reported as stolen, so she is thrown in the mall jail. She calls Reba for help, and when Reba arrives, she explains to Reba that she was purchasing a gift for her to apologize for all the trouble. Barbra Jean tells Reba she never wanted a quickie wedding, so she is glad Reba won't sign. Barbra Jean cries because she is not having the wedding she wants, and Reba tells her to have a wedding that expresses who she is. Encouraged, Barba Jean asks Reba to be her matron of honor. Reba is horrified. Later, Brock stops by to give Reba her new credit card and to apologize. They cancelled their wedding in the Virgin Islands so Barbra Jean can have her dream wedding. Brock didn't want to embarass Reba with a big church wedding, but since Reba was supportive, they are going ahead. He asks Reba to sing at the wedding, and she is horrified.

Reba's (Reba McEntire) parents are visiting the family as part of their 46th wedding anniversary celebration, and Reba prepares the house and family for their arrival. Reba asks Brock (Christopher Rich) to drop by for a quick visit to see her parents, but without Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman). When Reba's parents, JV (Barry Corbin) and Helen (Dorothy Lyman) McKinney, arrive, her father is affectionate, but her mother criticizes something immediately. Van (Steve Howey) apologizes to them for getting Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) pregnant, but they assure Van that they married as teenagers too. Helen urges the young couple to make the little things special in order to keep a happy marriage. The next day, Reba prepares a special lunch. Brock arrives and is greeted coldly by Helen and JV, but after some talk about fishing, JV invites him to stay for lunch. Barbra Jean peeks her head in the door. Reba says there is not enough chicken. Barbra Jean brings in the pie that Brock left in the car, and introduces herself to JV and Helen, who react coldly. Reba invites her to stay. In the kitchen, Helen tells Reba she cannot believe she lets Barbra Jean in her home. Everyone eats in awkward silence until Barbra Jean and Helen discover a common appreciation of loud clothes and outlet malls. Barbra Jean suggests they go shopping after lunch, and Helen agrees. Van tries to be romantic with Cheyenne, but he fails and JV tells them that playful sex, not trying to impress each other, will ensure a long, happy marriage. At the mall, Barbra Jean and Helen are having a great time and love each others' selections. Reba hates the outfits, and after the love-fest has gone too far, Reba has had enough. At home, Reba tells Helen she has been too nice to Barbra Jean. Reba thinks her mom thinks she is a failure because her marriage did not work out. Her mother says that Barbra Jean's participation in Reba's life is proof of Reba's strength, not weakness.

Season 1. Episode 12: A Mid-Semester's Night Dream

Reba (Reba McEntire) takes a job as a substitute teacher at the local high school. She demonstrates that she is a great substitute teacher, but when she arrives home, Brock (Christopher Rich) gives her a hard time for working - until she challenges him to help out with the children more, and he backs down. Eric (Mike Erwin) and Marissa (Lacey Beeman), friends of Reba's daughter Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and her husband Van (Steve Howey), arrive at Reba's house and announce they are getting married. Reba things it is crazy for the couple to want to emulate her daughter, and she pulls Cheyenne and Van aside to ask them to convice the other couple how difficult teen marriage can be. While trying to convince Marissa and Eric not to get married, Cheyenne and Van say hurtful things to each other. Reba insists that marriage is a huge responsibility, and no one should get married just to have sex. Eric and Marissa leave the house to talk more. Reba is proud of herself, but Van and Cheyenne are angry with each other. The next day, Mrs. Hodge (Julia Duffy), the principal, fires Reba, explaining that Marissa's mother caught Marissa and Eric as they were about to have sex, and the teenagers said it was Reba's idea. Reba realizes the teenagers misunderstood her, but Mrs. Hodge will not listen and accuses Reba of teaching other girls to follow in Cheyenne's footsteps. Later at home, Van and Cheyenne are still fighting, and Reba wonders if she made things too easy for the couple by supporting their marriage. That evening Reba finds Cheyenne alone on the porch. Cheyenne admits that even if Reba had opposed the marriage, they would have eloped anyway. Reba says that Van and Cheyenne will have a much better change of succeeding at marriage if they understand how hard it will be. Van arrives, and Cheyenne surprises him by asking whether he would still want to marry her, knowing what he knows now. He asks her the same question, and she says she would. They exchange impromptu vows.

Season 1. Episode 13: Brock's Swan Song

Brock (Christopher Rich) enlists Reba's (Reba McEntire) help when his estranged father dies. Reba reluctantly agrees, although she believes Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) should help Brock instead. Reba and Brock decide on a small family only funeral, the way Brock's father would want it. Later, Barbra Jean, who never met Brokck's father, decides the plans for the funeral are insufficient. At the same time Van (Steve Howey) tries to persuade Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) to name the baby after a sports figure. When Cheyenne returns from the ultrasound appointment later that day, she happily announces she is having a girl. Disappointed Van continues to insist that the ultrasound may be wrong, and he rejects all female baby names Cheyenne suggests. Van is convinced he will not be a good father to a girl, because he assumed he would teach a boy about sports. He can't imagine what he would be able to impart to a young girl. Cheyenne's brother, Jake (Mitch Holleman) wakes up after a bad dream, and Van comforts him. Cheyenne points out that girls have bad dreams too, and she insists Van will be a good father to a girl too. He is relieved and happy and the couple agree on the name Laura. Brock and Reba agree that his father would not want the kind of funeral Barbra Jean is planning, and Brock has him cremated. Later that night, Brock asks Reba to go with him to scatter the ashes on the golf course where Brock's father died. A police officer (Kenneth Choi) arrives and arrests them. At the police station Reba blames Brock for the trouble they are in, but she also tells him some nice things his father said about him. Brock starts to cry and says he blew things with his father - and with Reba. Reba cautions Brock not to say things he will be sorry for tomorrow. Brock realizes his life and marriage with Reba are really over. Determined to be a better father than his own, Brock takes Jake to the golf course. He tells him he loves him, and they scatter the ashes together.

Reba (Reba McEntire) receives her final divorce papers while her friend Lori Ann (Park Overall) is visiting. Lori Ann tells Reba it is time to find a new man, and she mentions Parker Reynolds (Peter Scolari), a college sweetheart Reba once dumped for Brock. Unbeknownst to Reba, Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) tells Jake (Mitch Holleman) that Reba will marry Parker and have new children who Reba will love more than Kyra and Jake. Reba meets Parker for dinner, and he is just as handsome and charming as he was before. She wonders aloud why she let Parker go. He kisses her, and she remembers why she ended their relationship - there was no chemistry. The next day Reba receives flowers from Parker. Brock (Christopher Rich) and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) stop by the house and say they are happy that Reba is dating. Unwilling to admit in front of them that she is not interested in Parker, she claims they are going on another date. Privately, Kyra tells Jake that Reba is going on another date with "new dad". When Reba meets Parker for coffee, she kisses him again and feels nothing. She tells him they can be friends which does not make him happy. He kisses her again, but she feels nothing. When Reba returns home, Jakes asks when his new dad is moving in. Reba reassures him and calls for Kyra, whom she realizes is behind Jake's ideas. Reba asks Kyra if she is upset about the divorce. At first Kyra acts tough, but then she admits she is scared about the future. That night Brock and Barbra Jean stop by to take Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) to dinner. Barbra Jean refuses to believe that Reba dumped Parker. Reba gives Brock credit for handling her first date well. He says he hopes she finds someone who makes her happy, even though he will be jealous.

Season 1. Episode 15: You May Kick the Bride

Brock (Christoper Rich) and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) are getting married, and they drop off wedding clothes for the children. Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) receives an ugly puple bridesmaid dress; Van (Steve Howey) and Jake (Mitch Holleman) must wear Western-style tuxedos as best man and ring bearer. Reba (Reba McEntire) refuses to attend or have any part in the wedding, but when Cheyenne begs her to remake her hideous bridesmaid dress, Reba agrees. Reba also offers to remake Kyra's (Scarlett Pomers) dress, by Kyra says she is not attending. Brock asks Reba for her blessing because it is important to Barbra Jean. Reba reluctantly gives it. The next morning when Brock arrives to pick up the children for the wedding, Barbra Jean says she needs to hear Reba's blessing herself. Reba reassures Barbra Jean, but then Barbra Jean starts to cry and says she will not go through with the wedding. Kyra says she will not go to the wedding, and everyone else blames Reba for messing up the day. Reba talks to Barbra Jean in private. Barbra Jean says she cannot marry Brock because Reba is so wonderful, and if her marriage to Brock did not work out, how could Barbra Jean's marriage to Brock work. Reba convinces her that she and Brock are perfect for each other, and it will be ok. The wedding party leaves with Reba and Kyra staying behind. Reba convinces Kyra to go, and Kyra says ok, but Reba will have to drive her. Reba arrives at the church, hoping to drop Kyra off undetected. But when she has to stop to fix the bow on Kyra's dress, Barbra Jean notices her and asks her to stay. On her way out the door, Reba trips and rips Barbra Jean's train. She must sew it in order for Barbra Jean to continue down the aisle. Reba inadvertently sews the train to her pants and is dragged down the aisle behind an unhappy Barbra Jean. Reba makes a joke about being so attached to Brock and the children. She eventually sneaks back down the aisle and out of the church, leaving her pants behind.

Season 1. Episode 16: Vanny Dearest

Reba (Reba McEntire) discovers that Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) has gotten straight A's on her report card, but this achievement is soon overshadowed by Van's (Steve Howey) announcement that he has been named all-city football player of the year. Reba suggests they have a family dinner to celebrate Kyra's achievement, and Van invites Reba to his awards banquet. Brock (Christopher Rich) and Reba discuss how Van cannot stop loving his estranged parents even though they have treated him badly. The next day, Reba goes to a Pilates studio that Sue (Robin Riker), Van's mother, attends. Sues is ecstatic to hear about Van's award and agrees to attend the ceremony. At home Cheyenne asks Van to read brochures in order to select a childbirth method. Jake (Mitch Holleman) refuses to eat a grilled cheese sandwich his father has made for him, and Brock worries the divorce has affected him badly, until Reba tells him that Jake likes his sandwiches with the crust cut off. Sue arrives at Van's ceremony, to his delight and to Cheyenne's dismay. During his acceptance speech Van thanks his mother but leaves out Cheyenne's name. Cheyenne is further distressed the following day when the newspaper prints a photo of Van and Sue, instead of Van and Cheyenne. Sue arrives at the Hart household and comments on Van's outfit and Kyra's hair. After five days she is still hanging around the house and upsetting Cheyenne. Sue joins the family for Kyra's dinner, and Cheyenne learns Van has still not read the brochures about childbirth options. Cheyenne storms angrily away, and Reba tells Van he must stop letting his mother dictate his life. Van says he likes when his mother makes decisions for him, but Reba tells him he is married now and must grow up. Later Reba finds Sue at the Pilates studio and explains that it was Reba who wanted her to leave, and that Van still loves his mother. Reba suggests several ways that Sue can connect with her son without being at the Hart home all of the time.

Season 1. Episode 17: He's Having a Baby

At first Van (Steve Howey) makes excuses to avoid attending lamaze class, but Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) convinces him to go, saying it will get him excited about having the baby. While at the class, the roles reverse. Van does become excited about the baby, but Cheyenne becomes terrified of the process. Brock (Christopher Rich) stops by Reba's (Reba McEntire) house to pick up the family crib for his soon-to-be-born child. Reba objects, but Brock insists Cheyenne does not want it. Brock tells Van he does not need to go to lamaze class because father's don't have a real role in the birth. That night Cheyenne, out of fear, makes up an excuse to miss lamaze class, and Van asks Reba to go with him in her place. Reba is surprised to find Brock and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) at the class, and is angered when Brock, who was not interested during the birth of his other children, promises to be a better father this time around.Furious Reba socks Brock in the stomach with a baby doll. Later Reba calls to apologize and Barbra Jean tells Reba Brock is in the hospital. Reba goes to the hospital and feels guilty until she finds out Brock is actually in the hospital because Barbra Jean dropped the crib on his foot. Reba squeezes his toe and departs. Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) comforts Cheyenne, and a few nights later after lamaze class, Van congratulates Cheyenne for being brave. Cheyenne wonders how the most beautiful thing in life can also be the most disgusting.

Season 1. Episode 18: She Works Hard for Their Money

Lori Ann (Park Overall) arrives to help Reba (Reba McEntire) with the preparations for Cheyenne's (Joanna Garcia) baby shower. Cheyenne complains that she and Van (Steve Howey) need a car, and Reba reminds her of the family rule: Brock (Christopher Rich) and Reba will get Cheyenne a car when she can pay for half. Brock mentions to Reba that he wants to buy Cheyenne a big screen television for her shower gift, but Reba encourages him to buy something more practical. The next day at the shower, Cheyenne is delighted with Reba's gift: a hand sewn quilt. But Reba's gift is trumped when Brock presents Cheyenne with a used car. Reba corners Brock in the kitchen and tells him he broke the family rule. Brock agrees to tell them the car must stay in the garage until they earn half of the cost: $3000. The expectant couple unhappily agrees but blames Reba. Van gets a job at the local pizza shop, but because he can't use the car to make deliveries, Reba ends up driving him around in her car and doing most of the work. Reba agrees to have Cheyenne do errands around the house for pay, but Cheyenne ends up ruining clothes and dishes. One night after Reba is exhausted from Van's pizza runs and picking up after Cheyenne, Cheyenne hands over $100 to Brock and Reba. Reba writes a check to the couple for $2900, saying it is her shower gift to them. The ecstatic couple thanks Reba for the car and hands the check to Brock. When Cheyenne and Van go look at their new car, Reba snatches the check back from a baffled Brock. She says she just got credit for the car that Brock gave them, and for once she is not the bad cop.

Season 1. Episode 19: Labor of Love

Brock (Christopher Rich) tells Reba (Reba McEntire) he is skipping his annual camping trip because Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) is pregnant. Reba convinces Brock to go on the trip anyway, claiming he will not have these opportunities once the baby is born. In actuality, Reba does not want Brock around when the USC football recruiter comes to talk to Van (Steve Howey). Brock is pushing for Van and Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) to attend USC, while Reba wishes they would remain in Houston. The next day while the USC recruiter, Gust Dorrier (Casey Sander), is at the house, Cheyenne begins having contractions, and the family rushes to the hospital. Dr. Schmidt (Chad Einbinder) tells Cheyenne she is having false labor, but at the same moment Barbra Jean's water breaks. In the car, Brock calls Barbra Jean on the cell phone and coaches her through the birth of their boy. When Reba confesses that she wanted him to go on the trip so he wouldn't be home when the USC recuiter arrived, Brock encourages her to let the children make their own mistakes. Reba worries Van and Cheyenne will make another big mistake, but she agrees to stop pushing University of Houston if Brock will stop promoting USC. Later in the hospital, Brock holds baby Henry Charles Jesus Hart. Reba announces that Van and Cheyenne can make their own decision about college. Van says he has changed his mind about USC because he would like his baby to be able to play with his Uncle Jesus. Reba is overjoyed that Van and Cheyenne will be staying in Houston.

Season 1. Episode 20: The King and I

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) are nominated for king and queen of their high school prom. Van is a shoo-in, but Cheyenne things pregnancy may prevent her from being elected. Reba (Reba McEntire) and Brock (Christopher Rich) are glad that Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) is more conversative than her sister - until she walks in wearing a wild outfit and make-up. At school Cheyenne is humilated when a tube of hemorrhoid cream falls out of her locker. Van sticks up for Cheyenne. After Cheyenne leaves, Van is prompted by a chess player - who in the past appreciated Cheyenne's support of the chess team when others were disinterested - to reach out to the alienated students for their votes. Van invites these students to a party if they promise to vote for Cheyenne. Cheyenne and Van win the prom crowns, and Van asks Reba to throw a pre-prom party. Reba agrees, and on prom night her living room is full of offbeat students she has never seen before. Later at the party, Van tells Cheyenne he did not invite their friends because they will see them at the prom. Kyra comes to the party dressed conservatively - to the relief of her parents. When Reba overhears Kyra on the phone telling a friend a chess team member invited her to the prom, Reba scolds her. Reba talks to the boy and finds out Kyra did not accept his invitation, and Reba and Brock feel badly for overreacting. At the prom, Cheyenne becomes suspicious when another prom queen candidate says it was Van's popularity that got Cheyenne elected. Van cannot maintain the lie. Angered, Cheyenne leaves the prom and arrives home. Cheyenne is disappointed because she thought everyone had overlooked her pregnancy and voted for the popular girl she used to be. Reba comforts her, pointing out that Cheyenne has someone who loves her, which the other girls do not. Cheyenne returns to the prom but learns that Van left to be with her. When she arrives Van is in the living room. They dance.

Season 1. Episode 21: Up a Tree House with a Paddle

Sleep-deprived Brock (Christopher Rich) comes to pick up Jake (Mitch Holleman) to take him to a soccer game - but the game is already over. Brock explains that the baby is keeping them up all night, and he will make it up to Jake by building a treehouse. Reba (Reba McEntire) tells Brock to stop making promises he can't keep. Brock arrives the next day with the treehouse kit, but he doesn't have time to put it up. Reba and Van (Steve Howey) end up constructing the treehouse. Jake is delighted and asks Brock to camp out in the treehouse overnight. Reba says Brock will camp out, but Brock is upset that Reba made the promise. Brock is concerned about staying with Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) and his new baby. Reba is certain Barbra Jean can cope by herself, and so Brock agrees to join Jake that night. Later Reba answers the door to find Barbra Jean with her crying baby. Barbra Jean asks Reba to hold the baby. At first Reba hesitates because Brock conceived the child while he was still married to Reba. Reba goes into the kitchen where she encounters Jake, who is having a great time with Brock. Reba returns to the living room and takes the baby and soothes her to sleep. Barbra Jean falls asleep too. An hour later, Cheyenne and Van return from a walk they hoped would induce labor. Cheyenne asks to hold the baby, but when she does, she is frightened. She and Van panic that they will soon have a baby of their own. Reba reassures her that maternal instincts will kick in. Brock comes in and sees Reba with the baby. He asks why Reba did not tell him that Barbra Jean and the baby had come over. Brock says he needs to take Barbra Jean and the baby home. Jake hears this and runs outside. Brock says that he is sorry, but a new baby changes things. He has not yet figured out how he will spend time with each child, but he will. Brock leaves and Jake asks Reba to stay in the treehouse with him. Reba realizes Van has been feeling left out, so he goes to the treehouse with Jake.

Season 1. Episode 22: It Ain't Over Till the Redhead Sings

The school principal, Mrs. Hodge (Julia Duffy), stops by to give Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) her diploma. Mrs. Hodge pretends she is being considerate, but Reba (Reba McEntire) realizes this is an effort to keep a pregnant student out of the ceremony. Reba stands up for Cheyenne, and she gives the diploma back. Later Cheyenne informs Brock (Christopher Rich), Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) and Reba that she does not want them in the delivery room because Cheyenne realizes she and Van (Steve Howey) must do this alone. Reba thinks back to significant moments in Cheyenne's life as she struggles to accept her daughter is growing up. The next day Reba is videotaping Cheyenne as she prepares for graduation. Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) notices Cheyenne lean over the sofa in pain, and she asks if Cheyenne is in labor. Cheyenne is having contractions, but she begs Kyra not to tell anyone. Cheyenne is determined to walk at graduation. Brock and family arrive. Cheyenne, with help from Kyra, hides her contractions during the family photos. At the graduation, Reba thinks back to her labor with Cheyenne, and she remembers leaning over the sofa just like Cheyenne did that morning. Just as Reba realizes Cheyenne is in labor, Mrs. Hodge calls Cheyenne's name to come collect her diploma. She cannot walk because the contractions are very intense, so Van carries her across the stage to retrieve her diploma. He announces to the crowd that they are having a baby. That night at the hospital, Reba lingers outside the delivery room with Brock.They struggle with their daughter becoming an adult and needing them less and less. In the final stages of labor, Cheyenne calls for her mother. Delighted, Reba runs into the delivery room. Later, Cheyenne passes her daughter to Reba who sings to her new granddaughter.

Season 2. Episode 1: House Rules

Reba (Reba McEntire) dreams that Brock (Christopher Rich) kisses her and that Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) do not know who their child is. Reba then wakes up. Cheyenne and Van enter her room and are stresed out over parenthood. Reba comforts them. Reba tells them to go out for the night to have some fun, and that she will watch the baby for them. Meanwhile, Reba is upset with Brock and Barbra Jean's (Melissa Peterman) parenting decisions. Barbra Jean bought Jake (Mitch Holleman) a violent video game and Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) claims that Barbra Jean feeds them fast food and soda. Reba confronts Barbra Jean, but Barbra Jean denies she ever fed the kids fast food. Reba calls her a liar. Out at dinner, Cheyenne and Van discuss that they are terrible parents and that they don't really know if they like their stinky and fussy baby. However, when they return home, and see Reba rocking the baby, they realize that there is nothing wrong with them; babies are a nightmare. Brock arrives at the house and insists that Reba apologize to Barbra Jean. After some internal struggle, Reba apologizes, but Barbra Jean then admits that she did feed the kids fast food without Brock knowing. Reba says she wants to trust Brock but needs to know everything that goes on at his house. They quiz each other about parenting rules until Brock declares that this is ridiculous. Reba blurts out a surprising question: why Barbra Jean? He explains that he chose Barbra Jean because she needs him. He gets to be the hero sometimes with her. Reba realizes she did not do this for Brock in the last years of their marriage. Brock admits he was not much of a hero then.

Season 2. Episode 2: Skating Away

Reba (Reba McEntire) and Brock (Christopher Rich) inspect Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van's (Steve Howey) new apartment in campus housing for married student athletes. Reba is concerned about child care on campus, but Cheyenne and Van say they are adults and will take care of it. Reba still worries but says that she will now be able to live a normal life at home with Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) and Jake (Mitch Holleman). At home, Reba finds that Van has put up Christmas lights before moving out, and tells him to take them down because it is only September. Reba surprises Kyra with new rollerblades so they can spend time skating together, but Kyra is doubtful. Jake asks Reba what they can do together, and suggests eating hot dogs in the bathroom. While taking the lights down, Van falls off the roof and hurts his knee. At the hospital, they learn that Van has strained his knee, but will heal completely. A couple of days later, Krya and Reba prepare to go skating, but Cheyenne persuades Reba to come with her to look at the daycare area at the college. Reba tells Kyra she will return in 15 minutes, but Kyra does not believe her. At the college, they find another couple moving into the apartment. Jeff Harns (Chip Chinery), the athletic director, arrives to settle things, and notifies them that Van suspended his scholarship to take a year off from college and is not eligible for housing. Cheyenne is upset that Van didn't discuss this with her, and Van explains that he is scared that he can't measure up to the other players. Reba tries to make amends with hurt, hostile Kyra and tells her that although Cheyenne and Van are not moving out, they must make an effort to do things together. But Kyra knows that her mother will always have to help Cheyenne out of one major crisis after another. Reba promises to find the time, but Kyra says she might not have the time. Jake inquires about dinner and Reba says they will be eating hot dogs in the bathroom.

Season 2. Episode 3: Proud Reba

Reba (Reba McEntire) notices that she is low on money and announces to the family that they need to be careful with money because they have no income. She confidently says that she has been filling out job applications and has an interview for a customer service job. However, the interview was not successful. Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) help out by signing up for food stamps and contemplate having another baby to get more benefits. Reba is mortified and takes them to the government office to get them off food stamps. Reba tells Susan (Sonya Eddy), who signed them up, that it was all a mistake. Susan asks Reba about her dependents - 5 - and income - none- so Reba can also go on assistance. When Reba protests that she is not one of "them" , the other people in the office, Susan shames her into realizing the others are also proud people who would really like to work. Defeated, Reba signs up. The next afternoon, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) and Brock (Christopher Rich) stop by and ask if it is true that they are using food stamps. Reba says it is, and Brock can't believe that the settlement money is gone already. Brock urges Reba to demand the job she wants. Reba goes back to Mr. Lewis (Steve Ryan) and makes a compelling plea for the job. Mr. Lewis notices that Reba parked in a handicapped parking spot, and he is confined to a wheelchair. Reba does not get the job. Brock drops by and wants to help Reba, so he offers her a job at his office. Reba thinks this is a terrible idea. Barbra Jean arrives with a box of old clothes to give Reba. Reba changes her mind and accepts the job.

Season 2. Episode 4: Reba Works for Brock

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) prepares for her first day of college, and Reba (Reba McEntire) for her first day working for Brock (Christopher Rich). Cheyenne is worried that Van (Steve Howey) will not be able to take care of baby Elizabeth (Alena Leberger & Gabrielle Leberger). Reba signed Jake (Mitch Holleman) up for a dance class, and he wants to quit, but Reba states that no one is a quitter in the family. Reba is late to work because she took the kids to school. Brock gives her a hard time and tells her Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) will be her boss. Reba is horrified. Cheyenne rushes home to find Van in complete control of the baby and the house, and Reba is stressed after her long day with Barbra Jean. The next day Barbra Jean continues to irritate Reba and Brock suggests she should quit if she is fed up. Reba explains she can't quit because that would set a bad example for the children. Brock tells her that Barbra Jean wants to stay home with the baby, so Reba realizes that if she does what Barbra Jean wants, she can get rid of her. That afternoon Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) suggests to Van that Cheynne might be having fun at school, and Van worries that she would rather be at school than with him. At the dental office, Reba is being efficient and friendly. Barbra Jean is impressed and prepares to leave until a sexy patient, Tonya (Eva Halina Rich) arrives. Barbra Jean is upset and reveals to Reba that she fears losing Brock to an attractive pateint, and that they have not had sex in month. This makes Reba uncomfortable and she urges Barbra Jean to talk to Brock. Barbra Jean goes to talk to Brock, and he comes storming out insisting that Reba apologize to Barbara Jean. Reba adds having sex to his to-do list. At home, Reba decides she can quit her job. Van is upset and Reba assures him that Cheyenne loves him. Cheyenne makes a new friend at college, and Van is disappointed that she would rather spend more time with her friend than with him.

Season 2. Episode 5: It's Jake's Party, Cry If You Want To

Reba (Reba McEntire) and the family prepare for Jake's (Mitch Holleman) birthday party. Reba is annoyed because the children are quoting Barbra Jean's (Melissa Peterman) party advice. Meanwhile, Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) are worried that the noise will wake up the baby from her nap and cause her to cry. Reba advises Cheyenne to let the baby soothe herself, and not pick her up every time she cries. Cheyenne and Van are aghast at Reba's advice. Brock (Christopher Rich), Barbra Jean and baby Henry arrive and Barbra Jean immediately wants to rearrange things. Reba deters her. Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) is rude to Barbra Jean and justifies it by saying that Reba does not show Barbra Jean respect either. Reba says she can do that because she has a special relationship with Barbra Jean, and Barbra Jean agrees. Barbra Jean brightens up over this because it proves that Reba likes her. Reba is nice to Barbra Jean at the party, which causes Barbra Jean to think that something is wrong. Barbra Jean gets upset and explains to Reba that she misses the fun zingers now that she knows they come from friendship. Reba resumes her zingers, and Barbra Jean begins insulting Reba, explaining that this is a sign that she likes her. After too many insults, Reba pulls Barbra Jean aside and admits that she emplys zingers because she is still angry that she broke up her and Brock's marriage and it has not been easy for her. Barbra Jean says it is not easy for her to be the other woman either. They agree to be honest with each other. Cheyenne used Reba's advice and is sitting in the hallway listening to Elizabeth whimper behind a closed door. Cheynne is upset and Reba tells her that only she knows what is right for her baby. Cheyenne decides to go in the room and pick up Elizabeth.

Season 2. Episode 6: Safe Dating

Reba (Reba McEntire) grounds Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) for coming home late and refusing to tell her mom where she has been. She has been secretive lately, and Van (Steve Howey) spills the beans, saying it might be Kyra's new boyfriend. Later, Kyra realizes her parents know about her boyfriend. Reba offers to drive Kyra to the boy's house, and then insists on meeting his parents. Greg Hewitt (Ben Reed), Dylan's (Andrew James Allen) divorced father, comes to the car to introduce himself, and Reba becomes interested in him. He invites her in for a drink. Back at home, Kyra is upset that her mother likes Dylan's father. The next day Greg and Dylan visit, and Dylan breaks up with Kyra because Reba was so friendly with his father. Kyra demands that Reba stay out of her business. Reba feels terrible but Cheyenne is concerned that Reba may have missed a chance with an available man. Reba tells Dylan he can get back together with Kyra because she will no longer hang out with Greg. Kyra realizes what her mother is up to, and admits that she is the one who really broke up with Dylan because he cried over everything. She used her mom as an excuse so Reba would not interfere in her life in the future. Reba breaks up with Dylan for Kyra for the second time, and he sobs. She takes Dylan home, and asks Greg if he would like to go out with her. Greg says he would love to and admits that he didn't ask her out because he has little confidence since his wife abandoned him. He bursts into tears, and Reba is put off. Season 2. Episode 7: Mommy Nearest

Reba (Reba McEntire) quits her job at Brock's (Christopher Rich) office and will be replaced by the assistant of one of Brock's rivals, Dr. Eugene Fisher (Dan Castellaneta). To annoy Brock, Reba offers to work for Eugene. Reba hires Mrs. Wolf to care for the children. On the first day, Mrs. Wolf leaves the children because she is sick, and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) takes over. Reba is annoyed that Barbra Jean rearranged things, but is happy when Barbra Jean pulls a casserole out of the oven for dinner. The next day, Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) argue about whether to spend an evening with his work mates or her school friends. Reba comes home to find that Barbra Jean cleaned the house and made dinner, and Reba actually enjoys the fine treatment. As Barbra Jean is leaving, Jake (Mitch Holleman) comes downstairs and says, "bye, Mommy." Barbra Jean is thrilled, but Reba is stunned. The next morning Reba makes remarks about being Jake's only mommy. Barbra Jean will not be taking care of them anymore, and Reba will bring Jake to work with her to watch after him. At work, Dr. Eugene says that Reba has to choose to work or take care of her children. Barbra Jean enters the office and hears the doctor's ultimatum. She asks Reba why she would risk her job instead of letting her take care of Jake, and Barbra Jean realizes it is because Jake called her "mommy." At home, Cheyenne and Van are ready to go out separately. Brock advises them that they don't always have to go out together, but they quickly realize what happened to Brock's marriage. They abandon their plans and decide to take Elizabeth for a walk. Brock tells Reba that she is Jake's only mommy and that Barbra Jean just wanted to help her out. They reflect on the good food that Barbra Jean cooked for them. Reba realizes she overreacted. Reba apologizes, saying she was scared by the thought of being so easily replaced. The women make up and Barbra Jean cooks dinner.

Lori Ann (Park Overall) and Brock (Christopher Rich) convince nervous Reba (Reba McEntire) to start dating. Reba goes to a bar with Lori Ann and bores a man with family photos. Lori Ann tells her she needs to talk about something interesting. Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) calls Reba from the other side of the bar to check on Reba. Reba is overwhlemed and wants to go home. Cheyenne suggests Insta-Dating. At Insta-Dating, Reba becomes interested in the fourth man she talks to. She lies to him and tells him she writes children's book, and he is a documentary filmmaker. Before switching partners, he asks her out. Reba is excited but realizes she might need to write a children's book. A few days later, Reba nervously prepares for her date, and Cheynne gives her advice. Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) is irritated about having to babysit Jake (Mitch Holleman), and Reba dismisses her behavior as a result of the divorce and Reba dating again. At dinner, Brian (Mark Thompson) asks Reba about children's books, and Reba embellishes the lie. Things get tense, and Reba confesses that she is not a writer. Brian then admits that he makes cheesy late-night commercials. They relax and stop pretending. Later, Cheyenne and Van (Steve Howey) return home to find Jake unsupervised. Kyra admits to Cheyenne that she does not want Reba to be happy becasue divorced people have to be punished for their mistakes. Cheyenne points out that Reba is being punished: divorce, new job, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman), and more. Reba walks in and Kyra apologizes for calling her mom while she was on a date. Reba is pleased, but when she tries to hug Kyra, she walks away. Reba thinks she is making progress with Kyra. Reba confides to Cheyenne that Brian asked her out on another date, and that they stopped lying to each other.

Back in Houston, Reba is too self-concious to check into a motel, so they head back home. Brian thinks that Reba is not ready to have sex, and she admits that people shouldn't ring-a-ding until they love each other. Brian respects this. When the family returns home, Reba will not tell Cheyenne the outcome of her night with Brian. Barbra Jean thanks Kyra for coming with them, and they hug. Reba (Reba McEntire) finds herself alone on Christmas Eve when all the children make other plans. Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) will spend it alone with Elizabeth, Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) goes to a party, and Jake (Mitch Holleman) will spend it with Brock (Christopher Rich) and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman). Feeling sorry for herself, Reba decides to spend her Christmas Eve at a shelter serving food to the homeless. There, she encounters a cranky man (Victor Raider-Wexler) who says he has to spend the night working - it is the busiest night of the year for Santa. Reba tells him where her kids are, and when she cries, he reminds her that things could be worse. When he leaves, he calls Reba by her name, which she had not told him. He tells her that her family is together in their hearts, and urges her to go home to decorate the tree. He takes her red tin and says he will feed the cookies to the reindeer. Meanwhile, Cheyenne and Van second guess their decision to spend Christmas alone. At home, Reba is alone when Kyra returns in a bad rainstorm. Cheyenne, Van and the baby come through the door, followed by Brock, Barbra Jean and Jake, who thought that Santa would not find him at Brock's house. They all decorate the tree. When the power goes out, Brock tells Reba that Christmas was always a nice tradition when they were married. The power returns, and when they go into the living room, the tree is decorated and surrounded by presents and Jake's new bike, which Reba and Brock insist they did not buy. They do not notice that Reba's tin of cookies has been returned to the coffee table.

Season 2. Episode 11: A Moment in Time

Reba (Reba McEntire) spies Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) encouraging Elizabeth to crawl and grabs a video camera to record the moment. Reba explains that she wants to capture significant moments in the baby's life on video so she will know how much she meant to them. Later, Reba sets up a video camera in Cheyenne's (Joanna Garcia) room so that everyone can record a private message to Elizabeth. Kyra refuses to participate. When everyone is finished, Van (Steve Howey) suggests they watch the tape, but Brock (Christopher Rich) and Cheyenne disagree, insisting that the messages were private. Everyone's curiosity about the tape's contents rises, and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) suspects that Reba or Brock said something bad about her. Reba says she will put the tape in a safe deposit box on Monday, and locks it in a cabinet until then. The next day, Reba realizes that the tape has been moved and they all accuse each other of the crime. Since one person saw the tape, they decide they all must watch it together to be fair. As the family watches the tape, they get upset and offended by each other's comments. They all yell at each other until Reba notices that the tape is still running with a message from Kyra. She took the tape and recorded a message after all. On tape, Kyra says that the family may be crazy but they love each other and Elizabeth. The message is so different from the image that Kyra projects that everyone is deeply touched. Reba says no one can tell Kyra they saw her message. Kyra walks in and senses something is going on. Reba, Brock, Barbra Jean, Van and Cheyenne run over to hug her, eliciting protests from Kyra.

Season 2. Episode 12: The Vasectomy

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) thinks she might be pregnant again, but the doctor confirms she is not. Reba (Reba McEntire) slaps Van (Steve Howey) and tells them they will not have more babies while living in the house. The young couple is stunned at her reaction and decide to stay at a friend's dorm so they can think about if they want to live with Reba's conditions. Later, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) tells Brock (Christopher Rich) that she wants another baby for her birthday, and Brock states that he already has enough children, which upsets her. Babra Jean arrives at Reba's house asking for advice, and is followed by Brock. She says there is no good reason for them not to have more kids, and Brock admits that he had a vasectomy. That night in the dorm room, Cheyenne and Van ponder all of the things they gave up for their baby, such as living in a dorm. They realize their life would be even harder if they had a second baby, and admit that Reba is right. They return home to tell Reba she was right, and Reba apologizes for telling them what to do. She suggests that their second baby be a planned blessing. Reba explains that the situation is similar to Jake wanting a turtle he could not care for. Looking into the turtle's box, she realizes the turtle is dead. That night, Reba explains to Jake that his turtle died. Reba says that caring for a living thing is a lot of work, and Jake needs to be ready before he takes on that responsibility again. But Reba agrees that he can have another turtle as long as he keeps it at Brock's home.

Season 2. Episode 13: The Rings

Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) suggests that Reba (Reba McEntire) sell her engagement ring for money to fix the car with, but Reba thinks one of her children may want it some day and that it doesn't feel right to sell it. Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) admires the ring and comments that her finger feels empty without a ring. Van (Steve Howey) gallantly offers to buy her ring, not knowing how much a diamond ring costs. The next day Kyra goes with Van to buy a ring. Van chooses to buy Cheyenne a ring with a small diamond chip instead of a ring with a large cubic zirconium. At home, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) tells Reba that she can borrow her car while her and Brock (Christopher Rich) are in Italy. This upsets Reba because Brock claimed to never have enough money to go there with her, and she announces that she is going to sell her ring. She puts it up for bid online. Brock is aghast that Reba would sell her ring, so he declares he will buy the ring. Reba tells Kyra to put in a high fake bid for the ring. Meanwhile, Van prepares a romantic setting and gives Cheyenne her ring. At first she can't spot the tiny stone, but she loves it! Barbra Jean stops by and shows off the ring that Brock bought for her. It is Reba's engagement ring. The women confront Brock about the ring, and Brock says he did not give it to Barbra Jean, but instead, that she found it in his pocket and thought it was a gift. Brock had to buy the ring so a high bidder did not get it. Barbra Jean leaves the room and Brock and Reba admit that the ring still means something to both of them. Reba decides she will hang onto the ring and tells Brock who the high bidder truly was. Later, Reba offers Cheyenne to have the diamond reset for her own ring. Cheyenne declines the offer, saying she loves her ring because it came from Van.

Season 2. Episode 14: Seeing Red

Van (Steve Howey) suggests that Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) join him on a diet in order to get in shape, and she takes it as an insult. Reba (Reba McEntire) is still struggling with Kyra (Scarlett Pomers), who is upset at her mother for not getting her a cell phone. Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman), who has not been looking like herself lately, is going to treat herself to a day at the spa, and asks Reba to join her. Reba declines and Van declines for Cheyenne, saying she is perfect the way she is. Surprisingly, Kyra accepts the invite. Later, Cheyenne is upset with Van for passing up the opportunity to go to the spa and Van feels like he can't do anything right. Kyra returns very happy from her day with Barbra Jean, who enters the house with her hair dyed the exact shade of Reba's. Reba is not happy about Barbra Jean's hair, and bans her from the house. She becomes increasingly agitated and lunges at Barbra Jean. Brock (Christopher Rich) intercepts and insists that Reba calm down. Reba claims that Barbra Jean is trying to steal her identity and remarks that Kyra likes Barbra Jean more than she likes her own mother. Reba admits that she is jealous of Barbra Jean and fears if Reba keeps saying no to Kyra, that she will want to live with Brock and Barbra Jean. Meanwhile, Cheyenne tells Van that she thinks he does not find her sexy since the baby. He explains that they have more goign on in their lives now, which makes their relationship hotter. Cheyenne is touched. The next day, Barbra Jean arrives at the house wearing a head-wrap. She died her hair back and explains that she thought the color was a compliment to Reba. Reba apologizes for getting so angry. Reba asks her to spend less time with Kyra. Barbra Jean refuses, but assures Reba that Kyra talks about her mom all the time, mostly complaining, which is a sign that Reba is the important person in her life. Reba feels much better. Barbra Jean tries to hug Reba, who eludes her grasp.

Season 2. Episode 15: Terry Holliway

Reba (Reba McEntire) and Brock (Christpher Rich) are invited to the birthday party of Terry Holliway (Jeff Yagher), Reba's former boyfriend and Brock's former best friend, by Terry's brother, Mike (Scott Bryce). They are reluctant to go because they have not spoken to Terry in 25 years, but Brock thinks it is time to mend fences. Reba and Brock leave for their overnight trip and Barbra Jean worries that they might rekindle old emotions. At home, Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) refuses Cheyenne's (Joanna Garcia) suggestion that they play a game, and leaves for a friend's house. Reba and Brock flashback 25 years and remember the night that Reba broke up with Terry for Brock. They ponder what a weird night that was. At the bar, they spot Mike, and inform him that they are divorced. Mike is startled, and reveals that Terry is dead.. He did not think that Reba and Brock would come to celebrate Terry's life if they knew the truth. Mike gives them a sealed letter from Terry that was adressed to them. At Brock's condo, Barbra Jean is concerned about where Reba is staying, but Kyra reassures her that things are over between her parents. Kyra complains that Cheyenne is trying to control her. Van (Steve Howey) comes over and explains to Kyra that Cheyenne admires her and loves her, and is only trying to protect her sister. Kyra finally understands. At the bar, Reba tears open the letter and reads it aloud. Terry wrote that he fell in love with Reba while she was singing and he believes the only reason he lost her is becasue she and Brock were meant for each other. In closing, Terry urges Brock not to screw up the relationship. Reba rubs this in and admits she has few regrets. Mike persuades Reba to sing a song Terry loved: So Far Away by Carole King.

Season 2. Episode 16: Valentine's Day

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) reminds Reba (Reba McEntire) that tomorrow is her first Valentine's Day with Brian (Mark Thompson). She admits that she does not love Brian, and will merely thank him if he tells her he loves her. Cheyenne tells Reba that Brian planned a romantic evening for them. Alarmed, Reba tries to avoid him by claiming she is sick. Brock (Christopher Rich) warns Van (Steve Howey) not to make a big deal out of Valentine's Day because he will only have to top it next year. Brock says they shouldn't buy their wives gifts or flowers, and agree to take them to a buffet. On Valentine's Day, Brock and Barbra Jean arrive to pick up Cheyenne and Van. Barbra Jean proudly displays the candy box that Brock got her. Not wanting to be shown up, Van goes upstairs, and returns wearing a Valentine's Day sweater from Cheyenne and reads her a love poem that he wrote for her. Brian comes to Reba's house to nurse her through her "illness" Brian presents her with chicken soup, and they eat it by candlelight. Brian confesses he hates this holiday and Reba is relieved. Then he tells Reba he loves her, and she says she loves him too. She is stunned, and runs into the kitchen to consult Cheyenne. Reba explains that she said "I love you" because she panicked. Meanwhile, Brock is angry that he was upstaged by Van. He decides to take everyone to a fancy dinner, and tells Van that he is going to buy Barbra Jean two dozen roses. Reba comes back into the living room and Brian suspects that something is wrong. She admits she did not mean what she said, and Brian leaves upset, saying that she could have only said "thank you". When they return home, Cheyenne tells Van that being together on Valentine's Day is what matters, not presents. Van finds Reba in the kitchen and she tells him her relationship with Brian may be over. Reba admits she did not want to be lonely, and Van reminds her that there is a house full of people who love her.

Season 2. Episode 17: The Feud

Brock (Christopher Rich) confronts Eugene (Dan Castellaneta) about getting him cited for having too many people in his waiting room, and Reba (Reba McEntire) admits she had something to do with it. It escalates into a quarrel and Brock gets thrown out of the building. The next day, Reba invites Brock over and asks him to stop the feud. Instead, he asks her to join him and defeat Eugene. Reba surprises Brock by calling Eugene into the room to settle things, and Eugene declares that Brock ruined his life when he stole Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) from him. The fight escalates and Eugene falls, claiming that he will sue Brock for hurting his back. Meanwhile, Van (Steve Howey) earns some cash doing off-the-books tree-trimming. Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) convinces Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) that since he is lying to the government and not paying taxes on his earnings, that he may be lying to his wife as well. Cheyenne confronts him about it. Eugene takes Brock to court and orders Reba to agree with him on everything he says about Brock. The hearing begins. Brock uses circumstances of their break-up to get Reba to admit she is biased against Brock, and the judge (James Avery) accuses Reba of perjury. Brock defends Reba, saying that Reba was just trying to get him and Eugene to stop acting like idiots. Brock admits his intention to hit Eugene, and the judge dismisses the case. Later that day, Van contends that he would never lie to Cheyenne about anything important. They forgive each other. Brock stops by and asks Reba if she will forgive him for cheating on her. She says she doesn't know, but she does not want to hate Brock. Contrite, Brock says he is sorry for dragging Reba into the feud.

Season 2. Episode 18: And the Grammy Goes to...

Brock's (Christopher Rich) mother, Grammy Liz (Jenny O'Hara), is coming to visit. Reba (Reba McEntire) is trying to get a rise out of Grammy Liz, who criticized Reba relentlessly when Reba and Brock were married. Now divorced, Reba is relishing the moment she can tell Grammy Liz to shut up. However, when she arrives, she is genuinely nice to Reba, and mean to Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman). Nothing Reba does to provoke Grammy Liz works and instead, Grammy makes rude comments about Barbra Jean. Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) introduce Elizabeth (Alena & Gabrielle Leberger) to Grammy Liz and she asks Van about his parents. Van explains that his father (Mark Tymchyshyn) disowned them. Cheyenne suggests that Van should reconcile with his father. Later that night, Van knocks on his parents' door. His father says "hey." Meanwhile, Reba complains to Cheyenne that Grammy Liz will not "throw the first punch." When Barbra Jean and Brock leave, Reba asks Grammy why she is being so nice. Grammy Liz says she has always liked Reba and Barbra Jean will not be around long because Brock admitted he was still in love with Reba. Reba does not know if she should believe her. Later, Reba tells Brock that his mother revealed his secret love. Brock admits he said that two years ago, but was referring to loving her as the mother of his children. Reba is embarrassed, and Brock explains that this is his mother's way of stirring up trouble. They decide to teach Grammy Liz a lesson, and pretend that they are going to remarry. Grammy Liz is happy, and wants to break the news to Barbra Jean, but Brock thinks that is going too far. Later, Grammy Liz leaves and tells Reba that she was only trying to make up for causing problems in the past. Reba suggests she stop interfering with Brock's life. As a farewell, Reba tries to beat Grammy Liz at the hand-slapping game, but the old lady is too good.

Reba (Reba McEntire) becomes jealous when Elizabeth's other grandparents, Dan (Mark Tymchyshyn) and Sue Montgomery (Robin Riker) get involved in her life. They realize they have missed so much of Elizabeth's life already, and swear they will be there for her from now on. They present a gift for the baby - the key to a stable where her new pony is housed. Reba is outraged and feels that they are trying to buy the baby's affection. She gets jealous when the Montgomery's take baby Elizabeth home to spend the night and feels they do not know how to take care of a baby. Later, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) and Reba (Reba McEntire) come up with excuses to get the baby away from the Montgomery's. When they arrive at their gated house, they scale the wall to enter because they will not answer the call phone. Barbra Jean flees, and Reba is stranded on the wall, where Dan finds her. In the living room, Sue and Dan ask Reba what she was doing. Reba explains that they were not answering their phone, and they admit they unplugged the phone to avoid Reba's many helpful phone calls. Dan and Sue admit they feel inferior to Reba, who is like Elizabeth's second mother. Reba complains about the Montgomery's money being lavished on Elizabeth, until Reba realizes how jealous she sounds. She apologizes and says she is happy to have them in Elizabeth's life. At home, Cheyenne (Joanne Garcia) is upset that Van's (Steve Howey) football practice keeps them apart. However, Brock (Christopher Rich) tells her that a marriage means sacrificing for each other, and Van will make up the time they missed together when football season is over. Cheyenne realizes that her father is right.

Season 2. Episode 20: The Best Defense

Reba (Reba McEntire) is concerned about the family's safety in the house, and tries to convince Brock (Christopher Rich) to buy an alarm system for them. When he realizes how much they cost, he decides to install the alarm system himself. Meanwhile, Reba, Cheyenne and Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) join a self-defense class, and tell Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) it is a family event, so she cannot join them. At their first class, Barbra Jean enters, feigning surprise at finding Reba there. Now, Reba wants to hit someone in particular. At home, Brock installed the system for less than $90 and left a large hole in the wall. Jake (Mitch Holleman) picks the code for the system and Brock tells him to never tell anyone. They set the alarm off to test it, but Jake will not tell them the code to shut it off because his father told him not to give it to anyone. Jake runs off. At the YWCA, Barbra Jean defends her decision to attend the class, which riles Reba. Yvette (Tangie Ambrose), the instructor, asks the class to pair off into sparring partners. Reba asks to spar with Barbra Jean, and before the instructor tells them to start, Reba nails Barbra Jean, twice. She nails two more punches and knocks Barbra Jean to the ground. She refers to Barbra Jean as Blond-zilla, and Barbra Jean is furious, and goes on the attack. The two women batter each other, and Kyra pops Cheyenne in the head. Yvette halts the sparring and everyone is exhausted. The women arrive home debating who won the fights, and Reba admits she feels closer to Barbra Jean in some weird way after after punching her. Cheyenne says she feels closer to Kyra and that this must be the reason why men hit each other so often.

Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) volunteers to help Reba (Reba McEntire) organize the school auction. Reba, who has set a new record for income four years in a row, declines Barbra Jean's suggestions for making the auction successful, and insists that Barbra Jean follow her rules. Days later, Reba arrives as the auction is underway. She immediately finds fault with the way it is arranged. Van (Steve Howey) reports that bidding on his auction item, football lessons with Van, is going very well because Barbra Jean put a shirtless picture of him next to the bid sheet. Reba accuses Barbra Jean of ignoring all of her rules, but is stunned when Brock (Christopher Rich) announces that the event raised more than last year. Van reports that a woman bought his lessons for $150 and Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) is jealous. Meanwhile, Barbra Jean tells Reba that she planned a party at Reba's house on Saturday night for the volunteers and Reba does not like the idea. A few days later, Van prepares for his football lesson with Terry (Leslie Jordan), who ends up being a man. Terry explains that he needs to learn about football because his partner and his partner's son watch football every weekend, and he knows nothing about the sport. Upset, Van rushes into the kitchen and tells Cheyenne that Terry might be gay, which amuses Cheyenne. Van tells Terry that this isn't going to work because he does not find Terry attractive. Terry is stunned - he is not gay. The partner he referred to is his business partner. Terry is put off because he thinks Van is using the lesson to meet attractive men. Terry leaves while Van protests that he is not gay. At the party on Saturday Reba is trying to ignore Barbra Jean. Brock congratulates the two women for their achievement. Barbra Jean says the auction was successful because of Reba's wisdom, and then Reba struggles to admit that Barbra Jean's ideas were successful and that she deserves all the credit.

Reba's (Reba McEntire) life flashed before her eyes when her car was almost hit by a truck running a red light. She is shaken and overwhelms the kids with love. She finds Van (Steve Howey) claiming items from Reba's estate, should she die, and Reba has to assure Jake (Mitch Holleman) that she will not die for a long time. Brock (Christopher Rich) and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) come over and Brock informs Reba that he has left everything to Barbra Jean. He is confident she will divide things evenly among the children. Later, the children discuss what to do with the house when Reba dies. Reba drops by Brock's condo to discuss with Barbra Jean the fair division of Brock's property. Barbra Jean says she will take care of Reba's children. Barbra Jean then reveals that Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van have asked her and Brock to be Elizabeth's (Alena & Gabrielle Leberger) guardians, and Reba is stunned. When Brock comes home, he confirms what Barbra Jean told Reba, which upsets her. She storms out and confronts Cheyenne and Van at home. They explain that Reba has done so much for the baby already that she deserves to be just a grandmother rather than a full-time mother to a baby. Reba says this is stupid and that Elizabeth only has a positive impact on her life and will not be a baby forever. Cheyenne realizes they had not considered that Elizabeth will grow up and become less dependent. Van and Cheyenne agree to change their will, and Reba says she will tell Brock and Barbra Jean if the time should come.

Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) and Brock (Christopher Rich) contemplate moving to San Antonio. Brock worries about being four hours away from the kids and although Barbra Jean is looking forward to buying a big, fancy house, she is sad about leaving Reba (Reba McEntire). Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) arrives home from school with an invitation to spend her summer in England because of her good grades. The trip will cost $2,000, and Reba does not know if she will be able to afford it. Meanwhile, Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) informs Reba that she must take summer classes to remain a full-time student so that Elizabeth (Alena & Gabrielle Leberger) can keep her spot in the university daycare center. This will require Reba to pay tuition, and she knows she will not be able to afford both the trip and tuition. Reba asks Brock to loan her the money for Kyra's trip, but he says he cannot afford it because he just put a down payment on a house. Reba is surprised they are moving to San Antonio, but Brock clarifies that the house is not in San Antonio, but around the corner from Reba's house. Reba is stunned. Reba realizes that she will have to pay the tuition for Elizabeth's sake, and has to tell Kyra that she will not be able to go on the trip. She breaks the news to Kyra, who replies that it pays to be a pessimist. Kyra thanks her mom for trying and says that she feels sorry for Cheyenne. Reba visits Brock and tells him that Kyra took the disappointment pretty well. Reba thinks the rocky period in her relationship with Kyra is finally over. Kyra stops by and says she loves the house. While Barbra Jean takes Reba on a tour, Brock tells Kyra that he will make it up to her. Kyra says she wants to move in with him and Barbra Jean. Brock is very surprised.

Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) explains to Brock (Christopher Rich) that she wants to move in with him and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) because all of the other children come before her at Reba's (Reba McEntire) house. Brock is thrilled that she wants to move in with him, but warns her to be certain before she tells Reba. Barbra Jean is very happy, but worries that she will not be able to keep the secret. Later, Barbra Jean stops by Reba's house to pick up Henry's favorite blanket, and spills the beans to Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey). Cheyenne thinks Kyra's leaving will hurt her mother deeply, but Van sees it as an opportunity to for Elizabeth (Alena & Gabrielle Leberger) to have her own room. That night, Kyra is leaving for a party and Reba tells her to be home by curfew. Van worries that the curfew might influence Kyra's decision. They break the news to a stunned Reba. That night, Reba bursts into Brock and Barbra Jean's house and she accuses them of trying to steal Kyra. Brock tells Reba that Kyra feels like she always gets the short end of the stick at her house. Reba admits that Kyra is the only other responsible person in the house, other than herself, and Brock says that Kyra will have the chance to be a kid at his house. Reba leaves, saying she will never forgive Brock is Kyra goes to live with him. Back at home, Reba is going through Kyra's baby items and is very upset and hurt. Reba worries that Kyra might ignore curfew, and Van suggests that she let it slide. Cheyenne, however, says she should be punished. As Reba stares at the door, Kyra enters from the kitchen. Alone with her daughter, Reba reveals that she knows Kyra is considering living with her father. Reba says that she cannot be afraid to be Kyra's mother just because Kyra might move out. Kyra has to make a choice and stick to it. She cannot move back and forth to get what she wants. Kyra says she has made her decision. Reba asks to hear it.

Reba (Reba McEntire) is disappointed when Brock (Christopher Rich) and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) drop by the house without Kyra (Scarlett Pomers). Barbra Jean has been reading books about disciplining a teenager; something Reba says is a bad idea. Van (Steve Howey) says that Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) snores loudly, which she denies. Kyra stops by and she and Reba have a nice conversation without arguing. Barbra Jean attempts to control Kyra by making her wear a sweater and instituting a new rule that she cannot have beverages at dinner. Kyra is frustrated by Barbra Jean's attempts to control her, so she announces she is going to the mall with Reba. Reba is thrilled that she and Kyra are friends, but BJ claims that Kyra is tearing her marriage apart. The next morning Reba tells Cheyenne that Kyra is delightful now. Van comes downstairs after a good night's sleep in Kyra's room away from Cheyenne's snoring. But Cheyenne did not sleep well without Van. The couple leaves and Brock and BJ arrive to ask Reba to order Kyra to listen to them. Reba explains that Kyra hates whoever is telling her what to do. Reba enjoys not playing that role anymore. Later BJ admits she is losing control of Kyra, and Reba advises her to pick her battles. Kyra comes in and drops her backpack, even after BJ asks her to put it in her room. When Kyra insults BJ, Reba becomes angry and punishes her. BJ backs up Reba, and although Kyra is angry that Reba isn't her friend anymore, Reba is thrilled that she feels like Kyra's mother once again. Van and Cheyenne sleep soundly and snuggle that night.

Season 3. Episode 3: The Best and the Blondest

Van (Steve Howey) and Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) arrive home from the campus career fair that Reba (Reba McEntire) encouraged them to attend. But when Reba questions them about the fair, it becomes clear they went to a concert instead. Later, Cheyenne arrives at Brock's (Christopher Rich) house, complaining that Reba yelled at her because she has not chosen a major. Brock says Reba used to nag him also, and he chose dentistry because he wanted flexible hours, a good salary and to be his own boss. Cheyenne likes the sounds of this and decides to go into dentistry too. When Cheyenne tells Reba, Reba thinks she is joking. Cheyenne goes upstairs to tell Van, and Reba reminds Brock that Cheyenne never finishes anything she starts. Brock won't back Reba up, so Reba realizes it is up to her to make Cheyenne face reality. Reba brings Van and Cheyenne to the college career counseling office, and secretly asks the counselor to convince Cheyenne not to become a dentist. However, when Cheyenne and Van emerge from the office, Reba learns that counselor supported Cheyenne's interest and thinks dentistry is a great career path for her. When Reba tells Cheyenne she does not support her because she is sure Cheyenne will change her mind again, Reba is upset that her mother does not believe in her. Reba is angry with Brock for not convincing Cheyenne to do something else, so Brock explains the downsides of dentistry. Cheyenne is not discouraged. Reba tells her she has always been a flake and she will flake out in this situation too. However when Van is having trouble with the baby, Cheyenne steps in and tells Van where everything is and what to do. Witnessing this, Reba has a change of heart. Reba says she may be wrong - Cheyenne is capable of doing well when it is important to her. Reba promises to support Cheyenne in pursuing dentistry. When Cheyenne goes upstairs, Brock comments that they did a good job raising her.

Season 3. Episode 4: Spies Like Reba

Reba (Reba McEntire) asks Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) about a ring she is wearing on a chain around her neck. Kyra evades the question, and when she leaves the house, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) reveals that she knows all about Kyra's life. Reba is upset about Kyra's relationship with BJ until she learns that BJ has been spying on Kyra by reading her emails. BJ says she can find out who gave Kyra the necklace, but Reba refuses to stoop to that level. Van (Steve Howey) and Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) overhear the conversation and think that Reba is the one spying. Van encourages Reba to look through Kyra's backpack, and she finds the name of a boy on Kyra's notebook. Later Kyra walks downstairs in Cheyenne's "boy-meeting pink sweater", but she will not tell Reba where she is going because she lives with her father now. That evening when Reba asks Brock (Christopher Rich) where Kyra is, he says he doesn't know, but he trusts her. BJ says she found out that Kyra is dating a boy named Brandon. Reba reluctantly sits down at Kyra's computer and an instant message pops up that says Brandon is having a party. Brock now agrees this is not a good situation, and the three get in the car and go to Brandon's house to spy on the kids. At home Van and Cheyenne reminisce about the fun they had sneaking around before they were married. Back at Brandon's house, BJ gets out of the car to sneak around the property. Brock and Reba discuss how their kids have changed and how Reba doesn't know Kyra anymore. Reba yells at Brock for not keeping tabs on her. BJ comes back to the car right before Kyra appears and is furious that Reba spied on her. Brock supports Reba and says Kyra is wrong for sneaking out with boys, and she must check in with both him and her mother. Reba is pleased that Brock stood up for her. Kyra goes home in the car with her parents and BJ.

Season 3. Episode 5: Calling the Pot Brock

Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) asks Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) about her friends' use of marijuana. Brock (Christopher Rich) returns home during the conversation, and Kyra asks if he has ever smoked pot. He says no, but later he tells Reba (Reba McEntire) he feels badly that he lied to Kyra. Reba says he should not have these serious conversations without her, but that it was ok to lie about the drug use.Reba and Brock decide to talk to Kyra about drugs together, and Reba collects drug pamphlets to discuss with her. Van (Steve Howey) tells Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) that he is happy they will be able to tell their child they never smoked pot. But then Cheyenne confesses she once smoked at cheerleading camp. That evening Brock and Reba talk to Kyra while Barbra Jean sits nearby. When Kyra insists that her parents tell her the truth, Brock admits to smoking pot when he was younger, but he regrets this decision. Kyra and Brock go on a walk to talk about saying no. Barbra Jean is mad that she didn't know this about Brock, and Reba feels left out that Kyra and her father are having a private discussion. Reba thinks she doesn't look cool in Kyra's eyes because she didn't smoke, so Van tells her to lie and say she did. Cheyenne overhears Van tell Reba she should claim she smoked once at cheerleading camp. Cheyenne realizes how much this bothers Van, and shows him a diary entry stating she did not smoke. He knows she is lying, but he feels better when she readily admits that it did happen once and she is sorry for not being honest with him from the beginning. Later that day, Reba finds Kyra at Brock and BJ's house, and she tries to lie and say she did smoke. But she cannot lie and instead asks Kyra how many times she has been offered pot and if she said yes. Kyra says she has been offered pot twice, but Reba points out that she had to say no over 200 times. Reba suggests that perhaps Kyra would like to learn how Reba said "no" so many times, and the two go for a walk.

Season 3. Episode 6: Encounters

Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) eagerly awaits the arrival of Dr. Todd (Martin Mull), a communication guru who is going to lead a family workshop. Brock (Christopher Rich) begs not to participate, but Van (Steve Howey) and Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) are interested in joining. Reba (Reba McEntire) brings a box of Kyra's (Scarlett Pomers) belongings downstairs to prove that she is ok with Kyra living with her dad. But Kyra sees the box and secretly thinks her mother does not love her. Reba asks Dr. Todd to help her understand why Kyra is so angry. Dr. Todd pairs Brock with Reba, Van with Kyra, Barbra Jean with Cheyenne. Each pair reveals to each other what bothers them about the person with whom he/she is having problems. Then they all come together as a group to reveal what each partner said. Babra Jean starts, explaining that Cheyenne is worried that Van is lazy, but Barbra Jean quickly begins complaining instead about Brock's laziness. Brock counters by grumbling about his wife's stuffed animals. BJ realizes Brock does not want matching tattoos because he fears divorce. BJ says she likes to hope for the future, and Brock is covinced. Van and Cheyenne discuss how Cheyenne thinks Van doesn't do anything around the house or with the baby. And Van believes Cheyenne is always correcting him. When she promises to let Van do things from now on, they are happy. When asked about his conversation with Kyra, Van will not reveal any information. Reba is frustrated and Kyra goes into the kitchen. Reba follows her, and asks what her problem is. Kyra says she thinks Reba hates her, and that the box of her things is proof. Reba says that is crazy. She loves Kyra, and she is sorry she didn't realize Kyra was hurt. They both agree to make a better effort to communicate. They hug as Dr. Todd peeks proudly into the room.

Season 3. Episode 7: The Ghost and Mrs. Hart

When Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) tells Brock (Christopher Rich) and Reba (Reba McEntire) that Brock's house is haunted, Brock begs Reba and Kyra not to tell Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman). Reba is amused and the news inadvertently slips out. The next morning, Kyra points out to Brock that BJ has nailed shut the drawers containing cutlery. Brock cannot convince BJ to believe the nonsense, so he asks Reba to convince her that her worries are silly. Instead, Reba can't resist teasing BJ until she is so scared she can't stay in her own house and must go to Reba's. At Reba's house, Barbra Jean claims Baby Henry (Alexander/Jackson McClellan) is playing with advanced toys, and Van worries Baby Elizabeth isn't as smart as Henry. Cheyenne tells him that babies develop at different rates. With Brock going away for the weekend, BJ enlists Reba to help her rid her house of the spririt. That night, BJ and Reba take out the ouija board in Brock's house. With their hands on the stylus, it begins to move across the board, and each blames the other for moving it. Frightened, BJ runs upstairs, and Reba laughs until the lights go out and she is suddenly scared too. Meanwhile at Reba's house, Van tells Cheyenne that his review of child development books shows that they have not been raising Elizabeth properly. Cheyenne questions this, and Van explains that he is not smart. Cheyenne reassures Van that he is smart enough, and Elizabeth will learn a lot from him. Later at Brock's house, Reba tells BJ that the blackout was a blown fuse. BJ says she is calling off the cleansing because Reba is not serious. And BJ says she will go stay somewhere else. Reba convinces her she was teasing her the entire time, and it is all a joke. BJ cries because she says the ghosts are after her because she is a bad person and took Reba's husband. Reba assures BJ that she is a good person. They decide to play with the ouija board for fun, but when they look at it, the stylus moves by itself. They are terrified.

Season 3. Episode 8: The Cat's Meow

Reba (Reba McEntire) is in the kitchen with Jake (Mitch Holleman), Van (Steve Howey) and Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia). Brock (Christopher Rich) stops by to ask if Jake can eat dinner at his house that night. Later Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) arrives at Brock and Barbra Jean's (Melissa Peterman) house with a cat. BJ hesitates to let Kyra keep the cat because Brock claims he is allergic which Kyra says is not true. Kyra convinces BJ the cat should stay and BJ agrees, but the cat must remain a secret from Brock. BJ names the cat Clap-Clap. A few nights later, Reba returns from work and finds that Jake is having dinner at Brock's for the fourth time that week. She thinks Jakes must be having fun and not doing his homework, so she bursts into Brock's house only to find the family praying before their meal.When Reba questions why Jake is spending so much time there, Brock thinks it's because it reminds him of the family he had before Reba and Brock were divorced. Brock thinks this is good for Jake, but Reba is afraid she will lose him like she lost Kyra. Later, Reba mourns the life she thought she would have. She decides she will institute a family breakfast. When BJ gets hit with a sudden cat allergy, she asks Van to hide the cat at Reba's house. Van says Cheyenne is allergic, but BJ suggests maybe she is faking her allergy like Brock did. The next morning when Reba is preparing family breakfast, Cheyenne is sick from the cat she doesn't know is in the house. Van walks into the kitchen wearing a cardigan and acting like a 1950's tv dad, so Jake will see there is a father figure in the house. But Jake is more interested in watching tv. Kyra enters and discretly indicates to Van that she wants her cat back. Van realizes the cat is missing from his box, and he admits this to the group, including Cheyenne who is angry. That night Jake decides to stay at Reba's for dinner because he likes watching Van act "goofy" in his cardigan. Van points out that Jake has two loving households.

Season 3. Episode 9: Regarding Henry

Van (Steve Howey) is superstitious before his first college football game because he believes his superstitions have led him to success in the past. He won't eat waffles and must drink grape soda. He and Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) plan to go to Dallas for the game and leave baby Elizabeth (Alena/Gabriellle Leberger) with Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) and baby Henry (Alexander/Jackson McClellan) so the babies can be together. Reba (Reba McEntire) is furious that they would prefer to leave the baby with BJ, rather than her. When Reba finds out that BJ once lost baby Henry in a store, she angrily tells Cheyenne, who reminds her that she fell asleep while watching Elizabeth once. Reba cannot convince the young couple to change their mind. She asks BJ if she can go along on her trip to the zoo with the babies. Reba thinks BJ will be tired when they return, and Reba can take over. In fact, Reba is the exhausted one. Reba and BJ quarrel, and BJ realizes Reba only went to the zoo to spy on her. She leaves the house and leaves Elizabeth with Reba. In Dallas, Van provokes Cheyenne into a fight, claiming he always plays better when they are fighting. The next day Reba states to Brock that Elizabeth is better off with her, but Brock claims there are no perfect parents. Reba complains that BJ is annoying, but after some prodding, she admits that BJ has a good heart, although the niceness of the divorces is getting to Reba! Van and Cheyenne call later to tell Reba Van scored two touchdowns. BJ comes to the door and is delighted that Reba admitted to liking her.

Original Air Date - 21 November 2003
Reba (Reba McEntire) is tired of having a second job as her family's cook, maid and chauffeur. She wants to do things for herself, so she decides to train for a 5K race put on by Jake's (Mitch Holleman) school. She used to run a lot with Brock. The next day, Reba finds Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) in the kitchen trying to make a cake with Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) who is going to teach her how to cook. Reba is in the living room stretching when Van (Steve Howey) offers to be her trainer, claiming she could win he she follows his instructions. Reba says Brock used to ruin running because he was so competitive. Wouldn't it be great to beat him? Reba agrees to train with Van. In the kitchen BJ is frustrated with Cheyenne who is more interested in talking about fashion than cooking. Cheyenne is excited for their cooking lesson the following day, but BJ dreads it. The next day, Van and Reba enter the house after a morning run. Van teases her about having a bad time, until he admits she ran the race in under 24 min - a record for her! Reba is excited until Brock stops by for some trash talking, and she accuses him of being overly competitive. He says she's competitive too - she's even training with Van. Later Reba says she won't run because she doesn't want to compete with Brock - or lose to him. But Van offers Reba encouragement, and she is again inspired to run and win. In the kitchen BJ is frustrated with Cheyenne's continous failed attempts at cooking. The next day after the race, Kyra (Scarlett Pomwers) and Cheyenne come home debating whether an elbow to the nose is cheating. Brock comes in with an ice pack on his face, and Reba insists it was an accident. Although she was happy to win! Brock concludes he only lost to Reba because he was not trying as hard as he could have. They challenge each other to another race, and establish the pizza place as their destination when they hear that Cheyenne has cooked a race-day dinner.

Season 3. Episode 11: All Growed Up

Reba (Reba McEntire), Brock (Christopher Rich) and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) wait for Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) to arrive home from her first premed college exam. She arrives and bursts into tears, until she announces she fooled them, and she actually received a B-plus. Van (Steve Howey) comes downstairs, saying he has been asked to try out for arena football. Brock thinks this is a stepping stone to the NFL, but Reba worries that Van won't have an education to fall back on if he gets hurt. Reba's reticence is evident to Van, so Cheyenne tells her she must be supportive or he won't try out. Reba agrees, and tells Van to go for it. This could be a great opportunity, and the pay $60,000.00 a year could really set up his family. After the tryout, Van says he performed poorly, and Cheyenne tells Reba it was because she put too much pressure on him. So Reba goes to ask the coach (Tom Virtue) for a second chance for Van, and she learns that Van never showed up to the first tryout. Coach agrees to give him a second chance, and Reba goes home to talk to Van. Van explains he couldn't take the pressure of trying out, and of having to be responsible for his own family. Reba says she cannot make decisions for the couple anymore, it is up to them. Cheyenne reminds Van that they are a team, and he should not feel pressure to solely provide for the family. Van agrees to go to the second tryout, and he makes the team. In her enthusiasm, Cheyenne jumps into his arms and knocks him down. He hurts his arm, and Reba sighs.

Season 3. Episode 12: The United Font

Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) surprises Reba (Reba McEntire) by asking her for advice about boys, especially because Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) thinks she should be the one to offer boy advice. Reba's advises Kyra to ask him out, while Cheyenne thinks she should play hard to get. Later, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) and Brock (Christopher Rich) barge into Reba's house, angry because Kyra has a date, and Brock said she was not allowed to date until she was 18. Reba wasn't aware of this rule. Reba trusts Kyra, but Brock points out that it is the boy that is always the problem. Reba says she will drive the two 14 year-olds on their date, and it will be fine. However, when Scott (A.J Trauth) arrives, the family is startled to see that he has a mustache and is 17 and has a driver's license. Reba knows she has made a mistake. In the meantime, Jake (Mitch Holleman) has gotten in trouble at school for throwing a pencil at a girl who wrote notes saying she loved Jake. Van declares Jake is the victim, and he is going to speak to Jake's teachers. When Kyra comes downstairs for the date, Reba, Brock and BJ declare that the date is cancelled. When Kyra protests, Reba offers a compromise: they will accompany the teenagers. Later, Reba, Brock and BJ sit behind a red headed girl and a boy who start to make out. When Reba angrily pulls the couple apart, she realizes it is not Kyra, but instead a stranger. Kyra is furious that her parents don't trust her. Later at the house, she agrees to live by her parents rules, as long as they make clear what they are. Meanwhile, Van has spoken to Jake's teacher about the problem girl, Jill, and the teacher has moved Jake's desk away from Jill, which makes Jake angry. He actually likes Jill. Van was just trying to help, and Cheyenne appreciates that he stands up for his belief that the boys are not always wrong. After agreeing to her parents rules, Kyra says she should have asked Cheyenne about dating instead.

Season 3. Episode 13: To Tell You the Truth

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) is excited to pick up Van (Steve Howey) from the airport, but instead he arrives home with flowers, claiming the team took an earlier flight. Cheyenne wants to have romantic dinner, but Van says he already ate with a buddy from the team. The two go out anyway, and a few minutes later, an attractive woman, Kate (Sarah Shahi), knocks on Reba's door to return the jacket Van left in her car. Reba realizes Van lied to Cheyenne, and over tea Kate explains to Reba and Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) that she works in publicity and was discussing a profile with Van over dinner. Brock (Chistopher Rich) and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) hear about the publicist from Kyra. When Van and Cheyenne return from dinner, Cheyenne goes upstairs and the family grills Van about his lying. Van says he only lied because Cheyenne can get jealous and overreact. Reba and BJ think Van should come clean, but Brock thinks he should lie to avoid unnecessary conflict. Brock advises Reba to stay out of Van and Cheyenne's life. The next morning when Cheyenne sees Van's jacket, she asks Kyra and Reba about it. Reba is unable to lie, and Cheyenne is angry that Van did. Moments later, Van arrives with more flowers for Cheyenne, but Reba warns him that Cheyenne knows about Kate. Cheyenne accuses Van of cheating on her, which Van denies. But Cheyenne insists he leaves the house. Later at Brock's, Brock tells Van he should apologize because he is leaving for a road trip with the team. Reba and Brock devise a plan. Brock tells Van to wait before boarding the plane, and Reba brings Cheyenne to the airport. To everyone's surprise Cheyenne brings up the fact that her father cheated as a reason she worries about Van. Van promises he will never be like Brock. Reba points out that Cheyenne should not worry about the mistakes her parents made. Van tells Cheyenne that he will not get on the plane if she does not want him to go, but she says he should go and she will pick up him when he returns.

Season 3. Episode 14: Brock's Mulligan

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) try on outfits for a team photo shoot, but because Brock (Christopher Rich) intends to take Van golfing, he makes him change into something more conservative. Van is trying to create a "cool" image now that he is playing arena football. Reba (Reba McEntire) tells Brock that Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) is interested in attending college away from home, so they must start saving money. Reba insists that if Brock cancelled his country club membership, they would be able to put that money away in Kyra's college fund. The next day when Brock comes over to wish Van and Cheyenne well on their photo shoot at the arena, he tells Reba that he has made a grownup decision. Instead of selling his membership, Reba is shocked to hear that Brock wants to quit his job and take up professional golfing. Reba tells Brock this is a midlife crisis talking, not practicality. He explains that a mulligan is a second shot you hit in golf when the first one goes bad - this is Brock's mulligan. When Reba tells BJ about Brock's crazy idea, she is surprised when BJ supports him. Later, Van and Cheyenne bring in Mary Jo (Kit Pongetti), the team media person, as they claim Reba's house is theirs and that Reba is their maid! Reba plays along, but gets her revenge by saying that Van and Cheyenne are so nice that they do all her work when she has time off. Later Reba finds Brock playing with his clubs, and she asks what is really going on. He says he is not happy, and he wants to do something fulfilling in his life. Brock tells her that he met with a broker that afternoon, and he is selling the dentistry practice.

Season 3. Episode 15: The Shirt Off My Back

Reba (Reba McEntire) comes in from gardening wearing an old patched work shirt. Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) and Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) stop by. Everyone decides the shirt looks cool, and BJ asks to purchase it from Reba. BJ comes by later to tell Reba that she has found a man who could sell the shirts if she and Reba make them. Reba isn't convinced this is a profitable idea, but she lets BJ look into it. Meanwhile, Van (Steve Howey) asks Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) if he can shave his head like the rest of the team. She says no, but he does not want to be taunted as the new guy on the team. Brock (Christopher Rich) tells Reba he is convinced that focusing on golf is the right decision. BJ has news too: she received a $300 advance for 100 patched shirts. Brock insists the women split the funds 50/50 even though BJ wants more. The next evening, BJ arrives with an armload of shirts. She has left the prototype with the salesman, but she insists they begin anyway. Her shirt design is terrible, and she knows it. She thinks she is a failure, not just at making shirts, but at her marriage, and she worries that Brock's next change may be divorce. She thinks, how can she maintain a marriage if she cannot even make a patched shirt. Reba assures BJ that Brock loves her. At one point Reba goes into the kitchen and sees Cheyenne making a list of insulting names to call Van after he shaves his head. Reba insists this is inappropriate and Cheyenne should talk to Van directly. Cheyenne explains she doesn't want Van to shave his head because it's something he will do with his teammates, and it makes her feel left out of his life. Cheyenne finds Van in the barbershop with half of his head shaved, and he says he will leave the rest. Cheyenne forgives him and tells him to go ahead with the cut. The next day Van comes home, and he tells her the shaved head was a trick his teammates played on him for being the rookie. He asks her to hold him.

Season 3. Episode 16: Sister Act

Knowing how busy Reba (Reba McEntire) is, Van (Steve Howey) offers to help Jake (Mitch Holleman) with his volcano science project. Van says that his own father would have his projects professionally made, so he wants to do this with Jake instead. Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) comes by to tell Reba that Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) is very sick. When Reba rushes over to Brock's (Christopher Rich) house, she realizes Kyra is faking her illness. This is an unusual action for Kyra, and Reba soon learns that she has been absent 4 times. The adults demand to know what is going on with Kyra, who says she wants to change schools because she is getting bullied. The next day Kyra is sent home after punching a girl. Reba is furious until Kyra tells her and the others that the girl called Cheyenne a slut, and Kyra was defending her. Everyone is thrilled that Kyra would stand up for her sister like that. Cheyenne is especially happy, and the two go to the mall together. Meanwhile, Van appears with a completely finished volcano that he created himself. Reba tells him he is doing exactly what his own father did by not letting Jake contribute to the process. Van agrees, and he and Jake work on a volcano together. Later at home, Cheyenne is still so happy with Kyra, until Brock and BJ arrive to say that Kyra has been suspended from school. Later at the high school, Reba is prepared to lead the charge until Kyra reveals that she was, in fact, not defending Cheyenne. She says the girl did call Cheyenne a slut, but Kyra only fought back when the bully said Kyra would become one too. Cheyenne is very upset that Kyra lied to her, and didn't support her. Reba asks Kyra to tell the principal the truth, and only after Kyra talks to the principal will Reba consider letting her transfer. As the adults enter the office, Kyra hangs back to talk to Cheyenne, who is very hurt. Kyra admits that she liked talking to Cheyenne during the time they spent together. The sisters' relationship is repaired.

Season 3. Episode 17: Fight or Flight

Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) complains to Reba (Reba McEntire) that Brock (Christopher Rich) and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) give her the third degree when she comes home. Van (Steve Howey) arrives home to tell everyone that he and Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) are going to appear on "The Huddle", the football cable tv show. Cheyenne is nervous about the appearance, but Van is confident. BJ offers to coach them. On the day of the television show, Van is excited and Cheyenne is concerned. Until they sit down in front of the camera, and suddenly Cheyenne is charming, and Van is so nervous he can't even speak. Van runs off the stage, and Cheyenne saves him by telling everyone that he is sick with the flu. He is a hero for going on the show even though he is sick. Reba and Brock discuss Kyra's feelings about how he and BJ are hard on her. Brock reminds Reba that Kyra should not pit her parents against each other. One morning Brock cannot find Kyra, and it turns out she went over to Reba's in the middle of the night. Brock tells Reba that this stunt was designed to make him and BJ look like bad parents. Later Kyra admits to Reba that she sometimes cannot stand it when Brock and BJ fight. Reba explains to BJ and Brock that Kyra needs a place to go when she needs a break from Brock's house and their fighting. BJ denies the fact that she and Brock fight, but Brock understands and supports Reba and Kyra in this plan.

Season 3. Episode 18: The Big Fix Up

Reba (Reba McEntire) congratulates Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) for being responsible and opening a bank account. Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) wants to set Reba up with Terry (Leslie Jordan), a man from the church. Reba refuses the date until Barbra Jean explains that Terry's divorce was very painful, and BJ thinks they are both funny and smart. Reba agrees to spend one hour with him. Cheyenne come downstairs and Van (Steve Howey) comes through the front door, and they both see Terry in the living room. Van remembers teaching Terry football in the past and thinking that Terry was gay. Van leads Cheyenne outside to show her a surprise: a 1965 Mustang he purchased. Cheyenne is angry that he made this purchase without consulting her. Inside the house Terry continues to hit on Reba as Reba settles in for her 1 hour date. As Terry comes on too strong, Reba insists she cannot continue with this date. But Terry explains that he has had a rough time since his wife ran off with a big, blond goofball. Reba can relate, and the two converse about the difficulties of divorce and cheating spouses. Brock goes into the kitchen and finds Van who asks why he should not have purchased the car. Brock explains that in a marriage, the money is shared and there should be a plan to deal with it. Brock leaves and Cheyenne enters the kitchen. She and Van discuss the need for a money plan in their marriage, and Cheyenne forgives Van for buying the car. In the living room, Reba concludes telling Terry the story of BJ getting pregnant with Brock's baby. They laugh, but BJ is upset. She yells at Terry and tells him he has to leave. Reba ushers BJ to the front porch. BJ explains that she is hurt because Reba never jokes about her divorce with BJ - Reba opened up more in an hour to Terry than she has with BJ. Reba explains that she no longer hates BJ, and in a few years they might be closer. BJ thinks they have a weird relationship.

Season 3. Episode 19: The Good Girl

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) is angry with Van (Steve Howey) because she feels like she comes second to Van's mustang sportscar, whom he has named Rhonda. Cheyenne asks Reba (Reba McEntire) if they can borrow her sedan since the mustang does not have seatbelts for the baby's car seat. Later when Jake (Mitch Holleman) asks Reba to take him to practice, Kyra (Scarlet Pomers) convinces Reba to take Van's mustang. Reba falls in love with the car and races around in it for hours. The next time Van and Cheyenne borrow Reba's car, Kyra insists Reba take her out in Van's car, or she will tell Van on Reba.Later that day, Reba scratches the car while trying to park it in the driveway. Kyra persuades Reba to get the car fixed without telling Van. When they go to bring the car to the auto body shop, it is gone. Van has allowed Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) to take out the car after signing a 6 page pledge. BJ is nervous when she returns because she thinks she is responsible for the scratch. When Reba begins to tell the truth, Kyra stops her. Seconds later, Reba suggets that BJ ask to borrow the car again and take it to the body shop. Cheyenne overhears this conversation, but then admits she was the one who scratched the car. Reba says it doesn't matter who scratched it; they will take it to the body shop. In the driveway they run into Van who wants to take his daily walk around the car. BJ and Reba convince him that Cheyenne has a surprise inside the house, so he goes in. Jake walks into the house and announces that there is a scratch on Van's car, so the secret is out. Van accuses BJ, and when Reba opens her mouth to tell the truth, Cheyenne thinks Reba is going to rat her out, so she admits to doing the damage. The arguing escalates until Reba yells. She admits to sneaking out with the car. She is the responsible one, but she likes to have fun and drive fast too! The family is shocked. Van says he will never look at her the same way again. Van asks Reba to sign the pledge.

Season 3. Episode 20: Happy Pills

Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) begs Reba (Reba McEntire) to let her go on a solo date with her boyfriend, but Reba will not let her since the boyfriend is 17 and Kyra is only 14. Kyra blames Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and her history for the restrictions placed on Kyra, so Cheyenne agrees that she and Van (Steve Howey) will double date with Kyra. Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) tells Reba that she thinks Brock (Christopher Rich) is having an affair, and she asks Reba if she will find out. Later that evening, Reba leaves for Brock's house and Kyra enters to find Cheyenne. Cheyenne asks where her boyfriend is, and Kyra makes up an excuse. Only later does she admit that her boyfriend broke up with her because she wouldn't have sex with him. She says she didn't want to end up like Cheyenne which makes Cheyenne angry, and they fight until Van implores them to stop. Van insists they say nice things to each other, because they have been through a lot. Cheyenne suggests that she and Kyra go out together and have some fun. Over at Brock's house, Reba asks Brock if he's having an affair. He says he is not, and admits that he has been seeing a therapist and is taking anti-depressants. He doesn't want BJ to know, but Reba makes him tell her the truth. BJ doesn't understand why she cannot make him happy, and she thinks Brock should stop taking the medication. If Reba doesn't support her in this, then she will not speak to Reba again. Later that night, Brock stops over Reba's house to tell her he has stopped taking the pills and he will feel better on his own. Reba explains that he has a chemical imbalance, and that it may take some time for the drugs to work. She admits she took anti-depressants after their divorce. She urges Brock to give them a fair try. They may make him feel much better.

Season 3. Episode 21: Girl's Night Out

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) is excited to be turning 21 and plans a week of celebrating. At the same time Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) and Reba (Reba McEntire) are still fighting about Brock (Christopher Rich) taking anti-depressants. Brock quiets their arugments, and explains that he has still not told Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) and thinks he should since she lives with him. Van (Steve Howey) thinks Cheyenne is hinting that she wants a snowboard for her birthday, but when Reba asks her, Cheyenne indicates a snowboard is a stupid present. Cheyenne really wants a girls' night out with Reba and BJ for her birthday. Reba tries to discuss this with BJ, who is still angry at Reba and will not join the birthday celebration. Brock attempts to tell Kyra about his therapy and medication, but he does not make this clear. Later, Reba and Cheyenne are having drinks at a bar, and Van walks in covering BJ's eyes and walks her to the table where the other women are. Cheyenne pulls Van aside and tells him that the women are fighting and will ruin her birthday. Van thinks Cheyenne hinted that she wanted BJ there, but she says she hinted she wanted a snowboard. He is confused! The bartender (Mark Christopher Lawrence) throws underage Van out, and Reba and BJ continue to argue, until their confrontation turns into a fist fight, and the bartender throws them out too.Meanwhile, Van returns to the house and overreacts by hiding the knives when Brock asks him how he should tell Kyra about the depresssion. Kyra comes in and Van leaves, and Brock admits the truth. Kyra is happy her dad is honest with her. Outside the bar, BJ explains to Reba that she is bothered because this is the first time Brock has gone out of the marriage to find happiness. Reba gives BJ a hug, just as Cheyenne comes outside to tell them that the bar patrons sang Happy Birthday to her. Later Van carries drunk Cheyenne into the house and puts her to bed on the couch. BJ carries drunk Reba in the house and up the stairs.

Season 3. Episode 22: Core Focus

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) tell Reba (Reba McEntire) that they have budgeted $700 a month, and they are going to rent an apartment. Reba is happy and supportive, until the couple comes home later that day and says they have found an apartment they love for $1500/month. They ask Reba to co-sign the lease, but she refuses because they cannot afford it. Cheyenne decides to forge Reba's signature on the documents, but they end up not getting the apartment because Reba has terrible credit. Van feels badly that Reba does not make much money, so he and Cheyenne decide to stay in the house and offer to pay $100/month to Reba. Meanwhile, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) has stopped by to talk to Reba. BJ wants another baby with Brock, as she thinks this will make everything better. She wants to know how to approach Brock with this suggestion. Reba tells her not to lose her cool, but when Brock returns home later that day, BJ blurts out that she wants another baby. Brock does not want to talk about it then. That night, Brock arrives at Reba' house. He tells her that she makes his life miserable because she resents him. Reba denies this and warns him that he is not going to like what she has to say about their breakup. Brock admits he made many mistakes, and he is learning to be honest in therapy. Reba hugs him, but doesn't notice that BJ sees this embrace. Later Kyra tells Reba that BJ saw something between her and Brock, so Reba goes over to explain. BJ hears Reba, but is still upset that Brock talks to Reba about his therapy. BJ is trouble by Brock's unhappiness - he seems to think their relationship was a mistake. Brock comes home and says he needs to talk to Reba and then BJ. BJ says she is so hurt and cannot keep living like this. She leaves, and Reba urges Brock to go after her. He says he cannot because he does think their marriage was a mistake.

Season 4. Episode 1: The Accidental Role Model

After several flashbacks of Reba (Reba McEntire) and Brock (Christopher Rich), Brock tells Reba he's not sure how he feels about his marriage to Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman). Meanwhile at Reba's house, Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) tells Van (Steve Howey) and Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) that Barbra Jean found Reba in Brock in bed together; Reba firmly denies this, which relieves Cheyenne. Reba goes to find Brock, and tells him that she likes her life now, and that Barbra Jean loves him. Brock says he'll talk to Barbra Jean, but Barbra Jean then arrives at Reba's house and says she's going to throw Brock out. Reba tries to convince Barbra Jean not to do it, but Barbra Jean claims it's what Reba would do, to which Reba disagrees. Reba agrees, however, that Barbra Jean deserves better, but tells her to speak with Brock first. Barbra Jean goes to find Brock, while Van and Cheyenne find Kyra in Brock's kitchen, and ask if Barbra Jean has done it yet. Cheyenne wonders aloud if Barbra Jean will change her mind, and Brock will never find out, but Brock hears this and wants to know what he'll never find out. Moments later at Reba's house, Reba tells Brock that Barbra Jean is about to ask him to move out, to which Brock replies that this does not sound like his wife. Reba sheepishly admits she is Barbra Jean's role model. Brock goes home to speak to Barbra Jean, but even after pouring out his heart to her, she kicks him out. Brock goes to Reba's house, but Reba only offers him a beer and makes him stay at a motel.

Season 4. Episode 2: Mother's Intuition

Van (Steve Howey) and Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) want to cheer up Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman), thinking she is depressed about her separation from Brock (Christopher Rich), but just then Barbra Jean enters and asks to borrow Cheyenne's earrings. She's being going out every night, apparently, which makes Reba (Reba McEntire) worry about Kyra. Reba stops by Barbra Jean and Brock's house to see Kyra, who assures her mother that everything is fine. Then, Barbra Jean comes downstairs wearing an outfit identical to Kyra's, and reports that she's cleaned her room. Having seen that Kyra has seized control of the household since Brock moved out, Reba tells Brock that he should move back home. Brock says he needs to see how things go. Brock and Barbra Jean's troubles instigate Cheyenne to stew about hers and Van's marriage, but Van assures her she is the one for him. Reba stops by Barbra Jean's house and tries to convince Kyra to move home, but Kyra refuses. Reba hides when Barbra Jean comes down the stairs and asks Kyra to go shopping with her to buy matching outfits, and Reba realizes that Kyra is staying there to hold her step-mother together. Reba tells Kyra that it is not her job to fix adults' problems, but Kyra likes feeling needed, and doesn't want Barbra Jean to believe that Brock is never coming back. Season 4. Episode 3: The Two Girl Theory

Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) is still feeling depressed about her separation to Brock (Christopher Rich), and asks Reba (Reba McEntire) to accompany her to a bar, to which Reba reluctantly agrees. Reba and Barbra Jean come home with many phone numbers from attractive men. Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) overhears Jake (Mitch Holleman) tell Van (Steve Howey) that everything Van told him in "the talk," he repeated to his friends at school; Cheyenne tells Van he needs to tell Reba what he's done, but Van won't because he's afraid of Reba. Brock stops by to find out where Barbra Jean was the prior night because she missed their marriage counseling session, and a friend said he saw her at a bar with a slutty friend. Reba reveals that she was the slutty friend and they will be going out again. Cheyenne tells Reba what Van told Jake in "the talk," and Reba decides she'll need to have a follow-up talk with Jake. That night at the bar, Reba and Barbra Jean attract more men, and when Barbra Jean reveals that Brock has actually been trying to express his feelings at their counseling sessions, Reba tells her that a marriage is hard work and that she shouldn't be so hard on him. The next morning, Reba talks to Jake, and Jake wonders why Van's talk was so much more fun. Brock stops by to apologize, and when he and Reba hug for a moment too long, he claims they both felt a spark. Reba slams the door in his face.

Season 4. Episode 4: Van's Agent

Van (Steve Howey) enters the house and annouces that a top agent, Sadie Owens (Wendie Malick), will represent him after she meets his family. All are nervous about their dysfunctioinal appearance as a family, but Reba (Reba McEntire) assures her son-in-law that Sadie will see them as a close-knit family who gets through tough times. Sadie enters the house and is greeted by Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) revealing too much information about family problems, Barbra Jean and Brock (Christopher Rich) fighting, and an awkward Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) trying to salvage things. Sadie says it's ok, her family is crazy too, and when she and Reba begin talking, Sadie says they have a lot in common, especially the fact that Reba is a lesbian as well. It turns out that when Van first met Sadie, he made a joke about gay people, and the only way to salvage the situation was to say that he didn't dislike gay people; in fact, his step-mother was very gay! Van begs Reba not to ruin his career by revealing that she is not gay, and since Sadie has already asked Reba out and Reba has already accepted, Reba decides she must talk to Sadie. When Sadie arrives, Reba tells her that Van lied to cover for a joke he made, and Sadie is depressed because she came out so late in life and thinks she will never meet anyone. She also appears unphased by the lie. They decide to still go to dinner, which makes Barbra Jean believe that Sadie has turned Reba gay.

Season 4. Episode 5: Surprise

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) realizes that she never tells Van (Steve Howey) how proud she is of him, so she and Reba (Reba McEntire) decide to throw Van a surprise party to celebrate his new football contract. When Brock (Christopher Rich) and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) arrive at the party, they are very awkward, and Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) tells Reba that it was she who invited Brock, not Barbra Jean. When Van enters the party, Cheyenne reads a speech, and Van blurts out that he has been traded to Denver. Cheyenne is furious that Van did not consult her, and although Van says that the trade means he is wanted and that he can fly home on off-days, Cheyenne refuses to move to Denver, and Van tells her he did not consult her because she is always negative about football. They both run out of the party separately with Brock following Van and Reba following Cheyenne, and Kyra comments that Brock and Barbra Jean have been acting like children by not speaking to each other in the same manner. Van and Cheyenne don't know how to communicate because they have poor role models. Brock and Barbra Jean agree to communicate more, and Van and Cheyenne have a talk during which Van acknowledges Cheyenne's fear of their being apart, apologizes, but says that he needs to go to Denver for his career.

Season 4. Episode 6: Couple's Therapy

Brock (Christopher Rich) begins spending more time at Reba's (Reba McEntire) house, and Reba tells him this needs to stop. Brock says his condo is too lonely, and when Reba asks Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) how their couples' therapy is going, Barbra Jean tells Reba that the therapist wants to speak to her, because he believes Reba is controlling and unable to move on after her divorce from Brock. Insulted, Reba agrees to go. At the doctor's office, Dr. Baker (Patrick Duffy) and Reba rub each other the wrong way, especially when he doubts Reba has really moved on. When Brock enters the Dr.'s office, he is surprised to see Reba there. He claims he has been spending time at her home to see his kids, and believes he and Reba have been getting along well. Reba believes this is the problem; she doesn't want to be reminded of their good times. Dr. Baker asks the two if they still love each other, and they sit there silently and awkwardly until Barbra Jean arrives, at which point Reba leaves. Meanwhile, Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) has been ignoring Van's (Steve Howey) phone calls because she believes if he really wanted to talk to her, he wouldn't have moved to Denver. Brock tells her that in football, trades happen. When Van arrives home, Cheyenne becomes increasingly upset that Van is happy in Denver. Van tells her they need to learn to be happy apart. They agree that they missed each other. Brock brings Jake (Mitch Holleman) home from his condo, and Brock and Reba agree that the question Dr. Baker asked them was weird. Brock changes the subject, and then leaves.

Van (Steve Howey) goes to find his daughter, but is surprised to learn she is in preschool. He tells Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) that he won't get to see his child enough if she is in preschool, so they agree to look at the school together. Meanwhile, Reba (Reba McEntire) realizes that Brock (Christopher Rich) has been running his dental practice to the ground because he has been spending too much time golfing. Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) asks Reba to speak to him about choosing between golf and his practice, which Reba does. Brock tells Reba that he will be selling the dental business, which Reba agrees is a good idea, since it still has worth. Barbra Jean is upset because she wanted Brock to quit golfing, but she did not communicate this to either Brock or Reba. Barbra Jean worries that her marriage is over. Later, Brock enters the house to say he won the tournament, but that he is quitting golf because he realizes that his family is the most important thing. He and Barbra Jean embrace. Meanwhile, Van and Cheyenne visit their daughter's preschool classroom, and when Miss Laurie (Diana-Maria Riva) shows them a picture their daughter drew of Van on an airplane, Van is crushed, and believes he is a bad father for being away. Cheyenne consoles him.

Season 4. Episode 8: Hello, I Must Be Going

Van (Steve Howey) comes home from Denver exhausted, and soon after arriving home, he tells Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) that he has been ordered back to Denver for practice. In actuality, Van is merely frustrated that Cheyenne has crammed too many things into his schedule. Cheyenne later surprises Van with tickets for herself and their daughter to go to Denver, but Van appears unexcited. Cheyenne asks him if he is having an affair, but Van responds that he has no time for an affair; he apologizes to lying, and says that just being with Cheyenne and their daughter is enough; he does not need a crowded schedule of events. Meanwhile, Brock (Christopher Rich) and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) decide to go away for the weekend. Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) is at first annoyed to be spending the weekend at Reba's (Reba McEntire), but soon reveals that she feels as if she causes Brock and Barbra Jean's problems, and that she wants to move back in with Reba. Reba is overjoyed that Kyra wants to come home, but confronts Brock when he returns about Kyra's fear that Brock does not love her. Brock tells Kyra that he and Barbra Jean love having Kyra around. Kyra decides she should remaing living with them for a bit longer. Reba hides her sadness, but Kyra tells Reba that she has never doubted her love.

Season 4. Episode 9: Thanksgiving

Van (Steve Howey), Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia), and Jake (Mitch Holleman) decide they would rather have Thanksgiving dinner at Barbra Jean's (Melissa Peterman) than at Reba's (Reba McEntire), and Reba is livid. A heated argument ensues between Reba and Barbra Jean, during which Brock (Christopher Rich) tries to mediate. Reba says she only has limited time with her children before they go their separate ways, and Cheyenne and Van see her point of view. Cheyenne convinces Reba to invite everyone over to her home for Thanksgiving dinner, but Barbra Jean declines the invitation. Eventually, all agree to have the meal at Reba's while Barbra Jean will do the cooking. On Thanksgiving day, Barbra Jean impresses everyone with her appetizers and creativity, and Reba grows agitated and jealous that she is not the center of attention. She instigates a family football game, and when Barbra Jean finds everyone missing, she goes home to drink alone in her own kitchen. Reba finds Barbra Jean, who tells Reba that Reba is always the center of attention. Reba says this is just because this is her family, and that when Barbra Jean's son is older, Barbra Jean will be the center of attention. Later, all enjoy the Thanksgiving meal.

Season 4. Episode 10: No Boys Upstairs

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) secretly plans to decorate Van's (Steve Howey) Denver apartment while she is there visiting. While Van is at practice, Cheyenne clutters it with teddy bears and knickknacks, and Van is upset when he returns. The only thing he needs is the picture of Cheyenne and their daughter that he had hanging up; Cheyenne removes her decorative touches. Meanwhile, Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) has a boy in her life, Chip (Justin Smolian), and when Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) tells Kyra that she must have either herself or Brock (Christopher Rich) home to have Chip over, Kyra protests because they are never home, and goes to ask for Reba's (Reba McEntire) permission. Reba tells Kyra her rule is that Kyra and Chip can not go upstairs together. While Reba is at the store, Kyra and Chip go upstairs, and Jake (Mitch Holleman) tattles on Kyra when Reba returns. Already put off by Chip's rude behavior and torn, leather clothing, Reba tells Chip to leave, and grounds Kyra for breaking the rules after she denies they ever went upstairs. Reba rewards Jake for telling the truth, but grows suspicious after he mentions that Kyra called him a crybaby. It turns out that Kyra was telling the truth, so Reba takes Jake's reward away and lets Barbra Jean and Brock know that Kyra did not break any rules.

Season 4. Episode 11: Diamond Jim Brady

Van (Steve Howey) is sent home from Denver because of an injury. Embarassed, he goes to Dr. Yeager's (Rick Fitts) office for a follow-up exam, and is told that he has spinal stenosis, a career-ending condition. Brock (Christopher Rich) tells Van that he will still get paid because he has a contract, but Van's agent says this is not the case; because Van's spinal condition was pre-existing, he won't get paid. Van surprises everyone the next day when he arrives in an expensive new coat. His coach told him his condition should have been caught initially, so Van has received a $100,000 payout. He buys everyone in his family expensive gifts, including diamond earrings for Reba (Reba McEntire): the gift she's always wanted. Reba tells Van he needs to get some common sense, and savor this money while he figures out what he wants to do with his life. Van feels as if he will never be a hero again, but Reba promises him if he does something heroic in his life he will feel the same way he felt when he played football. Van watches his replacement score a touchdown on television, and feels depressed.

Season 4. Episode 12: Reba and the Nanny

Van (Steve Howey) has been extremely social since being diagnosed with his spinal injury. Simultaneously, Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) has been heavily involved in her coursework, believing she needs to be the breadwinner in the family. When Cheyenne asks Reba (Reba McEntire) to take care of Cheyenne's and Van's daughter, Reba tells Cheyenne she needs to talk to Van about his finding a new career and being more responsible. When Van hires a nanny without consulting Cheyenne, Penny (Lupe Ontiveros), Reba tells Cheyenne she must confront Van. Van confesses he is distracting himself by his lost career by having fun. Meanwhile, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) tells Reba that she is considering asking Brock (Christopher Rich) to move back in with her. Reba tells her that if she is merely lonely, that she should get a dog. Brock subsequently tells Reba he is thinking of asking Barbra Jean if he can move back in with her. Before he can ask, Barbra Jean shows up with a new dog, which she has named Brock. Barbra Jean admits to Brock that she got the dog when she thought about Brock's returning and then leaving again, and Brock responds that he will not let their marriage fall apart again.

Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) tells Reba (Reba McEntire) that she is attracted to her marriage counselor, Dr. Morgan (James Denton). Reba suggests she find a new counselor, but agrees to go with Barbra Jean to talk to Dr. Morgan. When the two women enter his office, Reba and Dr. Morgan have an instant attraction. During the meeting, Dr. Morgan says that it is natural for someone in Barbra Jean's situation to have the feelings she does. After the meeting, Reba asks Dr. Morgan on a date. When Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) realizes her mother's date the following night is with Dr. Morgan, she advises Reba to tell Barbra Jean. Barbra Jean is jealous, and accuses Reba of stealing Dr. Morgan from her to get back at her stealing Brock from Reba. Reba protests this, but decides she can't like Dr. Morgan because Barbra Jean does. After Reba's date with Dr. Morgan, as Dr. Morgan is about to kiss her, Reba pulls away and tells him that she can't like him becaue she cannot hurt Barbra Jean. Barbra Jean has been eavesdropping, enters crying, and tells Reba she never should have doubted her friendship. Barbra Jean gives her blessing to Reba and Dr. Morgan, and tells him to be good to her.

Season 4. Episode 14: Reba the Realtor

Reba (Reba McEntire) gets fired from her job for calling her boss a name, and decides she will sell real estate. Because she has no experience, she convinces Brock (Christopher Rich) and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) to let her sell Brock's condo. At the open house, Reba gets an offer for the condo, but Brock says the offer is too low and fires Reba. Barbra Jean believes there is a real reason why Brock would set an unrealistic price and hire Reba, an amateur saleswoman, and Barbra Jean and Reba confront Brock. Brock admits that he took out a second mortgage on the condo, and that they are broke. Reba reveals that she has money stowed away when she knew her divorce from Brock was imminent, and it is exactly the amount he needs. Meanwhile, Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) asks for permission to play with her band at a club. Reba tells her she can go only if Van (Steve Howey) accompanies her. Although initially annoyed, Van comes home raving about Kyra and her band, and offers to help exploit her gift. All is well until Kyra's bandmates tell her that Van is taking the fun out of their band by turning it into a job. Kyra convinces Van to quit his post, and she is satisfied.

Season 4. Episode 15: Flowers for Van

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) spends a few hours getting to know Michael (Maximillian Alexander), the father of Cheyenne's and Van's (Steve Howey) daughter's playdate. When Cheyenne returns home with him, Reba (Reba McEntire) thinks they are a little too comfortable and tells Cheyenne she needs to stop talking to him. Van (Steve Howey) admits that his relationship with Cheyenne hasn't been so smooth since the discovery of his spinal injury, so Brock (Christopher Rich) suggests Van sends her flowers without signing his name. When the flowers arrive, Cheyenne thinks they are from Michael, and throws them out. She then takes Barbra Jean's (Melissa Peterman) advice and sends Michael flowers with a note saying she can never see him again. Van finds the flowers he sent in the trash, and goes to Brock, upset. Brock says to get her roses. Michael arrives at their house with the roses Cheyenne sent, and shoves them in Van's face when he learns Van is her husband. Van sees what's been going on, and Cheyenne admits she's been lonely and liked having Michael listen to her. Van says he's been lonely since he stopped playing football. He forgets he's sent Cheyenne roses, and when they arrive, he refuses them. Meanwhile, Reba and Brock are playing online poker separately. They are simultaneously messaging each other on their screens, unknowing of each other's true identities. When Brock, under his alias, tells Reba, under hers, that he has no more money and can no longer play, Reba asks thay he reveal his true identity. He says his name is Brock and he is from Houston. Apalled, Reba says she is from Houston and her name is Bob. Horrified, Brock closes his computer.

Season 4. Episode 16: Who Killed Brock?

Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) asks Reba (Reba McEntire) to babysit her dog Brock. Barbra Jean asks that Reba not let the dog outside, but Reba does so anyway. When Barbra Jean returns, Brock the dog is missing. Brock (Christopher Rich) and Van (Steve Howey) post flyers of the missing dog, and Barbra Jean consults a psychic, who says that someone in the family killed Brock the dog. Hysterical, Barbra Jean demands to know who killed Brock the dog. First she blames Reba, but Reba denies this. Flashback to Reba cooking, the dog jumping on the counter, and Reba putting him outside. Brock says he is not responsible, and when Van says he saw Brock outside with a pillowcase, there is a flashback to Brock airing a pillowcase out so that Brock the dog can learn his scent. Van says he didn't do it, and there is a flashback of him running into the treehouse, scared. Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) says it wasn't her, although she was upset that Brock the dog ate her cookies. Van is disappointed in Cheyenne for evading her new diet she was supposed to be on with Van. Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) jokes that she cooked Brock the dog in a cauldron. Barbra Jean does not find this very funny. Suddenly, Jake (Mitch Holleman) enters and says that it looks like Brock the dog killed a hawk.

Season 4. Episode 17: The Pageant of Grandmas

Jake (Mitch Holleman) asks Reba (Reba McEntire) to participate in a beauty pageant for grandmothers to raise money for his school. Reba agrees to make Jake happy. Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) plans to mold Reba into a pageant competitor. Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman), however, believes since she is a step-grandmother and has already won four pageants, that she makes a better competitor. She shows off her baton twirling and singing skills in the kitchen. Reba happily agrees to let Barbra Jean take her place. Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) tells Reba that Jake told everyone in his class that Reba would win the pageant because she is the youngest, coolest grandmother. Reba is touched and decides she will have to beat Barbra Jean. She calls for Cheyenne's help. Barbra Jean and Reba simultaneously primp and prepare for the pageant. Cheyenne aids Reba. At the pageant, Reba enters the backstage area looking terrific, and Barbra Jean tries to intimidate her. The principal enters and says that only one grandma can represent the Hart family. She leaves the two women to argue it out, and Barbra Jean admits that she lied about having won four pageants in her lifetime; she always came in last, and it has been her dream to win a pageant. Reba is touched and lets her represent the family; she wishes Barbra Jean good luck. Cheyenne is angry that Reba did not end up participating. Brock (Christopher Rich) announces that Barbra Jean is queen of the school grandma pageant. Cheyenne tearfully congratulates her and accepts her tiara and roses. Jake says Barbra Jean ws awesome, especially when her baton lit the curtain on fire.

Season 4. Episode 18: Reba's Rules of Real Estate

Reba (Reba McEntire) has a job interview with Dolly Majors (Dolly Parton), the top real estate agent in town. As she does with all of her clients to test them, Dolly unexpectedly stops by Reba's house because the first rule of real estate is to "expect the unexpected." Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) embarasses Reba with her verbal recommendation by being too honest about Reba's being fired previously and her temper problem. Van (Steve Howey) and Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) thank Dolly for taking a chance with Reba. Reba says this is the 'real her,' and Dolly says this is good because the second rule of real estate is to "be yourself." Dolly gives Reba the job. Reba goes into the kitchen and when she returns to Dolly, Van and Cheyenne tell her that Dolly has sold them a house. Brock (Christoper Rich) takes Reba and Barbra Jean into the kitchen to discuss hot to prevent Van and Cheyenne from buying the house. Brock tells Dolly he opposes the house-buying, but Dolly proposes they discuss this over a glass of champagne. Brock tells Reba that he and Barbra Jean are buying a vacation home in Costa Rica. Dolly, Van and Cheyenne are about to leave to sign papers for the couple's house, when Reba warns them of the problems that can come with buying a house. Dolly says that the couple should consult another professional, Reba. Van and Cheynne admit Reba is right. Reba admits to Dolly that she cannot sell to people if she thinks it is a bad idea. Dolly reveals that she has been testing Reba, and that she is going to recommend Reba to a different agency, because she is a good person and not a shark. Reba is pleased.

Season 4. Episode 19: Driving Miss Kyra

Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) gets her driver's license while Reba (Reba McEntire) and Brock (Christopher Rich) get emotional about Kyra growing up. Reba tells Kyra that she is only allowed to drive to school, the library and home. She gives Kyra a cell phone which is only to be used for emergencies. Kyra leaves to go to the library and Brock and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) decide to follow her. Reba confides to Van (Steve Howey) that there is a tracking device in Kyra's cell phone. Reba and Barbra Jean realize that Kyra is at Corky's Martini Lounge downtown. Before the two women can leave to find Kyra, Kyra enters and said she traded phones with Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia). Cheyenne calls and pretends she will be at her lab class late. Barbra Jean and Reba leave to find Cheyenne at the bar. She sees them immediately after taking her turn at karaoke, and complains that she feels like her life is over because other people her age are not in ruts. She loves being a wife and mother, but she feels as if every day is the same. Reba says she feels like Van is in a rut because every day is different. Barbra Jean convinces them both to sing karaoke with her. Cheyenne comes home the next day to find Van with a karaoke machine. Reba told him, and he understands. He pushes a button and they sing.

Season 4. Episode 20: Go Far

Reba (Reba McEntire) tells Brock (Christopher Rich) that he has not been spending enough time with Jake (Mitch Holleman). Brock promises to do better, and decides he will coach Jake in football. Reba does not like this idea, as Jake is one of the smallest boys in his class. Jake goes to his first football practice saying he had a great time and can't wait to spend every Saturday with his dad. Brock tells Reba that Jake was terrible at football and will surely be one of the first to be cut. Reba asks Van (Steve Howey) to coach Jake, but Van tears up and says he can't teach Jake that football is the only way to win his father's love. Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) volunteers to coach Jake, and she makes him do extra practice sessions. Reba tells Jake they just want to ensure he makes the team. Jake is nervous that when he doesn't make the team his father will wish he had a different son. Van says he knows what it feels like to not have a relationship with one's father. Reba cannot believe Van is so self-absorbed that he will not help Jake. Van decides to help him. Van admits that he, like Jake, was once afraid of being hit during the game. Van tricks Jake into getting so annoyed that he hits Van. Jake realizes he likes this feeling. Brock comes home smiling after Jake's first football game. He reports that Jake made the team but was banned for being too aggressive. Brock, too, was banned from coaching. Van says Jake is trained to hit anything. Van thanks Jake for helping him work through his feelings about his father, and goes to call his father. Reba thanks Brock for making Jake happy. Brock says he and Jake will continue spending time together, and when Jake enters, Brock asks him if they can take an art class together. Jake wants to paint a picture of the boy he made cry.

Season 4. Episode 21: Help Wanted

Reba (Reba McEntire) hires Van (Steve Howey) to be her assistant at the real estate agency. Van is late to work and Reba lectures him on the importance of being punctual, prepared, and professional. Reba tells Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) that Barbra Jean was right in being skeptical about Van's real estate abilities. Van interfered with one of Reba's sales to a couple by shooting hoops with the husband. Moments later, however, Van rushes in and announces he has sold the house to the couple. Reba cannot believe what she has heard, but Van explains that he played basketball with the husband so that he could see the neighborhood feel. Reba claims she is happy for Van, but her tone reveals that she resents his making the sale. Van proposes a partnership: Montgomery-Hart. Reba says they can't be partners because Van doesn't have his real estate license. Van explains his ability to act himself versus Reba's sternness make him a better salesman. Reba wells up and fires Van. Brock (Christopher Rich) tells Reba he understands why she is jealous of Van, but that she should relax and be herself, and then she will better be able to sell houses. The next day, Reba enters Van's room at around noon where Van is still sleeping. Reba apologizes to Van and tells him to get to work. She tells him that he taught her something, and that by being relaxed she sold a house that morning. From her, Van can learn about being punctual and prepared. Just then Reba sees an empty liquor bottle in Van's closet. He admits that he's been having a hard time since leaving football, but acknowledges that he could be excellent at real estate. Van promises not to let drinking ruin this potential. Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) enters Van's room, senses something is wrong, and Van tells her that Reba found her empty bottle of liquor.

Season 4. Episode 22: Hello, My Name is Cheyenne

Reba, not only being a mother-in-law but also a boss suggests that Van stops his drinking and go to an AA meeting. Van is furious and demands that Cheyenne tell her parents the truth. Cheyenne decides she will get help and goes to a AA meeting where she comes back excited that she is an alcoholic, blurting out her news to the rest of the family. Reba as the supportive mother decides no one will drink to help Cheyenne. Meanwhile, Kyra and her band are invited to perform at a USO event for soldiers leaving for Iraq. As the family secretly sneaks wine and beer around, Cheyenne is promoting her growth as a non-alcoholic and frowns upon her "using days". Reba later catches Cheyenne having a glass of wine and questions her on it. Cheyenne reveals that her life has been hell for the past year and alcohol is the only thing that has been helping her and she is scared and doesn't know what to do. Reba tells her that she is not alone and we end with a tearful hug.

Season 5. Episode 1: Where There's Smoke

Reba (Reba McEntire) is preparing for a party for her real estate clients as Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) returns home from her 12-step meeting was. Reba and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) are surprised to see Cheyenne light up a cigarette as she assures them she does not have an urge to drink anymore. Later, Reba tells Van (Steve Howey) she thinks Cheyenne is taking the easy way out. Van walks in on Cheyenne taking a pill, which she explains is a prescription medicine for alcoholics that makes them violently ill if they drink. She tells Van to tell Reba that they are vitamins because she is too embarrassed to tell her the truth. Brock (Christopher Rich) talks to Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) and Jake (Mitch Holleman) about not smoking because he worries they will think smoking is cool. When the kids leave the room, Brock smells the cigarette he was using to explain things, and smokes it. Reba goes through Cheyenne's purse to look for cigarettes. Reba finds only her vitamins. Van tries to dissuade her, but Reba decides to take one of the pills. At the party, Van and Cheyenne try to prevent Reba from drinking. When she takes a sip of champagne to toast her clients, she instantly feels sick. Brock comes home and sprays his shirt with canola oil to hide the smell of smoke. Barbra Jean suspects he is cheating on her but he finally admits he has been smoking because Cheyenne made it look cool. Barbra Jean tells him he cannot smoke because there are two children in the house. When he leaves, she sniffs a cigarette and asks God to give her a reason not to smoke and takes Henry entering the room as a sign not to smoke. After the party, Cheyenne tells Reba the truth. She explains she stopped going to meetings because they cut her off when she talked about shopping instead of drinking, which is embarrassing. Reba asks her if talking about drinking is more embarrassing than being cut off and urges Cheynne to go back to the meetings. Cheyenne agrees.

Season 5. Episode 2: Reba and the One

Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) and Brock (Christopher Rich) urge Reba (Reba McEntire) to date someone from online. Barbra Jean wrote a profile for Reba: irritable but this masks a need to be love. Later that afternoon, Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) complain because they are doing laundry while Reba is out on a coffee date. When Reba returns home, she announces she had a great afternoon. She tells Cheyenne and Van she cannot babysit that night because she is going out to dinner with this man again. She will not discuss the man nor let Barbra Jean meet him. Another evening at Brock and Barbra Jean 's house, everyone is complaining about Reba's absence. When Reba comes in to pick up Jake (Mitch Holleman), they try to figure out what is wrong with Reba's boyfriend and why he would not be dating a younger woman. She reports he is younger and better looking than Brock. When she leaves, with everyone's agreement, Barbra Jean decides to break up the couple. Another evening, Cheyenne and Van are exhausted from chores. Barbra Jean reports she has not discovered the identy of Reba's boyfriend. Jake reports he heard Reba make a reservation for two at Petit Jacques. Brock and Barbra Jean follow her while Cheyenne and Van stay to watch Elizabeth. When they nod off on the couch, Cheyenne thinks they are turning into old people, but they soon realize they like spending time with Elizabeth. At Petit Jacques, Reba is alone reading a book when she is approached by a nice looking-man, Ted (Tom Wilson) who offers to buy her dinner. Reba explains she made up a boyfriend. When Brock and Barbra Jean enter, she has Ted pretend he is her boyfriend. Ted tells them that he is from Canada and asks Reba to marry him. Barbra Jean refuses to let Reba go. Reba admits that Ted is not her boyfriend; she had coffee with one man but it did not go well. She read the profile Barbra Jean wrote and agrees she is irritable. She needs time alone to find herself before she can date.

After watching her fiercest competitor make a killing in the real estate market, Reba decides it's time to start investing. However, she can't do it alone with her bad credit, so Cheyenne suggests that Reba and Van team up. Later, when Reba finds out that Van went behind her back and purchased a home "as is", without any inspections, she wants out of the partnership. Meanwhile, Barbra Jean is feeling neglected by Brock and finds companionship from an unlikely source - the operator from her car's navigation system.

Reba (Reba McEntire), Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) and Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) are disappointed to see that Van (Steve Howry) stayed home from church to watch football. When Cheynne and Barbra Jean pressure Van to attend church, he reminds Barbra Jean that Brock (Christopher Rich) does not go either. Van says he will think about going back to church when football season is over. On a Wednesday evening, Van tells Cheyenne he can't go to church because he's watching a repeat of a Super Bowl. Brock agreed to go. Reba says Van is likely to pick up something just by going. Van doubts it because he does not believe in God. Reba and Barbra Jean are shocked and insist that he does believe in God. Van explains that he used to believe in God but God did not answer his prayers about his back problems, which ended his football career, so there must be no God. Reba insists that Van go see an expert. She takes him to the office of Reverend Parks (Patrick Fabian) to help Van's problems about not believe in God. When he finds out that Van did not come of his own volition, he tells Van he is free to go. Reba explains why Van lost faith in God, and Reverend Parks says it is human to have one's faith tested when his prayers are not answered. He asks Reba if she ever doubted God and she admits that when Brock left her and Cheyenne got pregnant, she prayed a lot but then one day stopped. Reverend Parks suggests that Reba tell Van this. The following Sunday, as the familly leaves for church, Reba tells Van that she thinks he still believes in God but they are not speaking at the moment. She says she felt this way herself once and God will wait for them. Barbra Jean goes to talk to Reverend Parks about a friend who is married and would never betray her husband... Reverend parks cuts her off with his own story about a minister who is interested in one of his parishioners and wants to ask her out. Barbra Jean accuses him of making a pass at her, but he is talking about Reba.

Jake (Mitch Holleman), Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia), and Van (Steve Howey) play with a dog from New Orleans they have taken in after the hurricane. Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman), who is running a "Save the Dog" campaign, tells Reba (Reba McEntire) that the dog's family is coming to pick him up from Houston, where they were bussed. Grandma Ruby (Jo-Marie Payton) is a 60-ish African American comes with her 10-year-old grandson Darnell (Brandon Wilson) to get the dog. When Reba hears that they are going to stay in a shelter, while their dog stays in a kennel, Reba offers for them to stay with the Harts. The next night, 18 of Grandma Ruby's relatives come to the Hart house, after seeing the dog's photo and finding their way there. When Grandma Ruby tells Reba that her family is going back to the shelter tonight, Jake reminds Reba what she always says about charity and Reba invites them all to stay. Days later, Reba is going crazy with so many people in her house. She can't get breakfast and Cheyenne lent out her car. Barbra Jean has started using black slang. Reba feels guilty for not being able to tolerate so many people in her house. Later, Reba talks to Grandma Ruby while she sent everyone to the park for some quiet. Grandma Ruby looks at the Hart family photo album and says those are what you miss most. Reba admits she is losing her mind in a house full of people. Grandma Ruby says even she is irritated with some members of her family and says they are leaving for New Orleans to rebuild the city. Reba says there is no instruction manual for these kinds of situations, but Grandma Ruby points out that there is: the Bible. They read an appropriate verse. Reba gives Grandma Ruby a Hart family photo so she will remember her crazy white family.

Season 5. Episode 6: Best Lil' Haunted House in Texas

Reba (Reba McEntire) is annoying the family by pulling the same tired tricks to scare them. Cheynne (Joanna Garcia) announces she is going to a sober party with her support group for Halloween and Van (Steve Howey) can't go. Van worries that Cheyenne is spending too much time with Frank (Andrew Walker), her sponsor. No one wants to attend Reba's party, and Brock (Christopher Rich) and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) try to persuade her to give up her Halloween dream of scaring the children. They catch Cheynne and Frank giggling together in the doorway, and Reba invites Frank in and calls Van down who puts on a big display of his affection for Cheynne in front of Frank. Cheynne is embarrassed and when she leaves, Van confesses to Reba he thinks Cheynne is having an affair. She comes home several hours after her meetings are over. When Van leaves the room, Brock and Barbra Jean think Cheynne is having an affair and Reba is scared they are right. On Halloween night, Reba sits alone and Van leaves to walk Jake (Mitch Holleman) to a friend's house. Brock, Barbra Jean and Reba are shocked to see Cheynne leave for her party in a skimpy French maid outfit. She dropped a matchbook from a sleazy hotel with a note from Frank. Jake enters upset and says that Van say Frank and went crazy. They got into a bad fight. Cheynne made her choice to stay with Frank. Van wants to flee to Mexico. Cheynne enters hysterical and wants to know what Van did with Frank because the police are on the way. He says he put him in the drunk. Reba goes to fetch Frank but when she opens the door, she finds Frank bloody and begging for help. Jake snaps a picture of Reba's startled face. Everybody laughs as Reba realizes she's been tricked. Cheynne explains that Frank is an actor from her meetings. They all realize that Barbra Jean, who was not in on the joke, is outside looking for a crime scene. Reba says this Halloween keeps getting better.

Season 5. Episode 7: Have Your Cake

Van (Steve Howey) and Brock (Christopher Rich) notices Barbra Jean's (Melissa Peterman) increased eating and Brock admits it bothers him because their love-making has decreased and he thinks she does not feel good about herself. Van tells Reba (Reba McEntire) and Cheynne (Joanna Garcia) that Brock wants Barbra Jean to lose weight. Cheyenne offers to talk to a fellow addict. When an offended Barbra Jean makes a comment about Cheynne being an alocholic, Brock sends her home and tells her that her gained weight doesn't bother him. Barbra Jean tries to pretend Brock's comment about her gained weight doesn't bother her, but her facade crumbles. She needs help losing weight because it's hard. Cheyenne declares that she and Reba will be Barbra Jean's diet buddies. Reba, Cheynne, and Barbra Jean become obsessed with food after dieting and exercising. Cheynne and Reba catch each other sneaking food. They decide to eat ice cream together. Barbra Jean comes in and says that apparently she is the only one who wants to lose weight. Cheyenne and Reba report they have already lost some weight. Barbra Jean has gained some, without cheating. Barbra Jean wishes she had bodies like Reba and Cheyenne's. Reba says she does not go to the beach anymore because she's uncomfortable in a bathing suit. Reba tells her that if dieting is making her miserable, she should stop. She tells Barbra Jean that she is wrong about Brock not finding her attractive anymore. She has never been tiny and he has always been attracted to her. She suggests she go home and put on a sexy outfit so Brock can show her how beautiful he finds her. Barbra Jean is so grateful she says she is going to take Reba to the beach tomorrow.

Season 5. Episode 8: Grannies Gone Wild

Brock (Christopher Rich) is disappointed when Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia() announces she doesn't want to do an internship in his dental office anymore because she no longer wants to go to dental school. She has been volunteering at a senior center and has decided she wants to help people. Van (Steve Howey) is upset that Cheyenne has changed her mind about their 10 year plan for her to become a wealthy dentist. Reba (Reba McEntire) suggests they visit the senior center to see if Cheyenne's work there is worthwhile. Barbra Jean has been called to jury duty and when she gets to the courthouse, she switches numbers with another juror so that she is questioned first. She announces she is going to be the foreman. Reba, Van, and Brock are shocked to see three old ladies emerge from another room at the senior center wearing make-up, blond wigs and Cheyenne's clothes. The director explains that Cheyenne has been giving the ladies make-overs and now the center is "Grannies Gone Wild" which makes her job difficult. Cheyenne claims she's found her calling but Van says it's stupid. Barbra Jean bores the judge and jurors with her life story instead of answering questions. The judge has had enough and dismissing Barbra Jean from jury duty now and in the future, as a bailiff drags her from the coutroom. Reba tells Van that the ladies seem happy with their new make-overs. Cheyenne comes home and announces that she wants to be a drug and alcohol counselor and plans to change her major to social work. Reba has trouble believing that Cheyenne thought this through. She's changed. Van asks Cheyenne when she intended to talk to him about this and Cheyenne says she needed to be sure. She wants to become a better person. Van worries that this changed Cheyenne will still want him.

Season 5. Episode 9: Invasion

Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) has gone to Lubbock to spend Thanksgiving with her family and Brock (Christopher Rich) has stayed home because her brother, Buzzard (Bryan Callen) hates him. Brock says Barbra Jean was hoping to set Reba (Reba McEntire) up with her brother so they could be sisters-in-law. Reba is expecting someone from the church shelter to pick up money from her garage sale, but the envelope with the money is missing. Jack (Mitch Holleman) and Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) deny taking it. Buzzard arrives at the Hart house surprised to hear Barbra Jean is in Lubbock. He realizes he didn't read all of her emails, just heard she wanted to spend Thanksgiving together. He tells Reba he came to her house because he hates Brock. Reba urges him to drive back, but when he tells Van (Steve Howey) not to give him a beer no matter what he says, Cheyenne realizes he is also an alcoholic. She doesn't want to send him back frustrated, which is a trigger, and offers to take him to a meeting. Van and Buzzard share a love of cartoons. Brock and Buzzard run into each other when Brock stops by and Buzzard accuses him of being an adulter who is dragging his sister to hell. Reba explains the situation to Brock. Buzzard apologizes to Reba for barging in on her holiday and tells her her letters mean so much to him. Reba tells Brock she's worried that Barbra Jean wrote the letters. Brock worries Buzzard thinks Reba is in love with him. Reba overhears Buzzard tell Jake that he does not have a girlfriend but there is someone who likes to write him letters who says she believes in him. Buzzard gets Jake to admit taking the church money and Buzzard advises him to tell Reba. Reba later thanks Jake for telling her the truth. Buzzard enters and says he is going home but Reba asks him to stay because he is family. She tells him she did not write the letters, but Barbra Jean did and it is because she loves her brother. The whole family gathers for dinner.

Season 5. Episode 10: Issues

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) explains to Van (Steve Howey) and Jake (Mitch Holleman) that Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) is taking Brock (Christopher Rich) to a sleep doctor due to his inability to sleep at night. At the doctors' office, Dr. Beck (Richard Ruccolo) asks Brock when he began having trouble sleeping. Brock tells the doctor that his problems started when Barbra Jean won a hamster and insisted on it sleeping in their room. However, Brock tells the doctor that the hamster has been staying in another part of the house but he still is unable to sleep. Dr. Beck decides to give Brock a video camera to tape himself sleeping to see what's going on. Later, Dr. Beck, Brock and Barbra Jean find out the reason Brock isn't getting a good nights rest is due to the fact that Barbra Jean is physically abusing him during his sleep because he won't allow the hamster to stay in the room. Reba (Reba McEntire) comes home from work and checks in with Van to make sure he's proofread the closing papers she left for him. Van informs Reba that he wants more important tasks. Reba disagrees and her and Van end up arguing. Reba reminds Van that they mustn't argue because their boss said people have complained about them. The next day, Van asks Reba if he can accompany her to an open house. Reba refuses and they end up arguing again leading their boss to send them to a therapist. The therapist decides that Van and Reba should swap roles. Later, Van is showing two couples a house and Reba arrives demanding to take over. As Van and Reba argue in the other room, the two couples rob the house, leaving it empty.

Season 5. Episode 11: Brock's Got Stones

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) arrives at the homeless shelter to volunteer hoping that her smile and good looks will cheer up them up. Instead, the director (Kathryn Joosten) puts her to work washing dishes in the kitchen and cleaning the toilets. Later, Van (Steve Howey) stops by the shelter and is mistaken for a homeless person by the director. When Cheyenne spots him she informs the director that Van isn't homeless - he's her husband. Two days later, Van plays cards with the homeless men while Cheyenne toils in the kitchen. Cheyenne pulls Van aside and complains that no one is seeing the good things she's doing. Van assures her that the work she is doing really matters. Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) goes away on a trip and asks Reba (Reba McEntire) to check up on Brock (Christopher Rich) while she's gone. Brock goes over to Reba's to let her know he doesn't want her checking up on him. When Brock tries to leave he is in serious pain due to his kidney stone and Reba refuses to let him go. While staying at Reba's, Brock is having a great time with Reba and starts remembering life for them before the kids. Days later, Reba admits to Van that she will be sad when Brock passes the stone and leaves because his visit has been fun. Van informs Reba that Brock had passed the stone the day before. Reba confronts Brock and he tells her that he missed their friendship since the divorce and he was sorry for taking advantage of her.

Season 5. Episode 12: Parenting with Puppets

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) informs Reba (Reba McEntire) that Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) needs her to watch Henry (Jon Paul Defabry). Reba doesn't want to watch him due to his inability to follow directions. When Barbra Jean arrives, Henry is banging loudly on a drum. Reba asks him to stop, and when he doesn't she yells at him to knock it off. Outraged, Barbra Jean tells Reba not to terrorize her child and leaves. Later, Barbra Jean returns with a new parenting trick. While Reba and Barbra Jean are discussing the new trick they hear a crash from the living room. The women find Henry holding the bat near a broken lamp and Jake (Mitch Holleman) calls out that Henry did it. Henry denies breaking the lamp. Reba calls Barbra Jean a bad parent as she leaves with Henry. Later, Jake confides in Cheyenne that he broke the lamp. Cheyenne tells Reba the truth as she enters the room. Right away Reba punishes Jake and he informs her that he hates her. That evening, Reba arrives at Barbra Jean's house to apologize. Barbra Jean informs Reba that she's afraid by punishing him he will not like her. Van (Steve Howey) and Brock (Christopher Rich) decide to spend their "guy time" at a spa.

Season 5. Episode 13: Don't Mess with Taxes

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) asks Van (Steve Howey) to participate on a panel of husbands for her sociology class to find out what men really want from a marriage. On the panel, all the women address their written questions to Van. Van gives a charming and largely fictitious response prompting Cheyenne to announce he is a liar. Later, Cheyenne asks Van if the truth about their relationship is so awful that he has to lie. Van explains that he made it up because Cheyenne deserves a memory of a romantic proposal and he wishes he was able to make their life a hundred times better. Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) enters Reba's (Reba McEntire) house in panic because the IRS is auditing her and Brock (Christopher Rich). Reba advises Barbra Jean to play dumb. Later, Brock and Barbra Jean return owing only $74, but the now IRS wants to audit Brock and Reba. Brock informs Reba he never told her that he donated to a charity in the Cayman Islands that turned out to be an illegal tax shelter. When Brock found out he donated the money to a real charity. Brock asks Reba not to disclose this. When they arrive at the IRS, Brock and Reba are shown to separate interview rooms leaving Barbra Jean in the waiting room. Brock and Reba leave the IRS and later find out that they owe the government $75,000 despite neither of them telling the IRS abut the Cayman Islands. Just then, Barbra Jean walks in and admits that she confessed to the IRS.

Season 5. Episode 14: The Goodbye Guy

Reba (Reba McEntire) knows that it's impossible for her to pay the $75,000 back to the government. Reba tells Brock (Christopher Rich) to figure it out. Later, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) enters Reba's house in a panic and announces that Brock has decided to sell their house in order to pay the whole date. The next day, Brock tells Reba he's moving to Las Vegas. Reba worries about the effect this will have on Jake (Mitch Holleman). Reba decides to talk Brock into staying because of his children. Reba informs Brock that he will be running away by selling the house and moving away. Reba encourages him to stick it out and fix his mistake the right way. Brock decides to come up with another way to pay the IRS back.

Season 5. Episode 15: Money Blues

Reba (Reba McEntire) notices that Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) has to ask Van (Steve Howey) for money and explain what she needs it for. Later, Reba informs Van that his financial system may make Cheyenne feel less than an equal partner. With this information Van decides to issue Cheyenne a weekly paycheck to feel like an equal partner. Cheyenne is outraged at being treated like an employee. Van seeks advice from Brock (Christopher Rich), who explains that the money is not Van's. In marriage, it is always "our," not "mine". Van goes home and apologizes to Cheyenne and informs her she is the heart and soul of their family. Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) brings Jake (Mitch Holleman) home from dentition after he was caught selling soda, a banned substance at school. The next day, Barbra Jean arrives with Jake, who has a very heavy backpack filled with sodas. Upset, Reba send him to school with a promise to talk about this later. When Jake returns home, Reba informs him that dishonesty isn't funny. Jake tells Reba he's trying to do something for the family to make them money. Later, Reba finds out that it's Barbra Jean behind the soda operation.

Season 5. Episode 16: The Trouble with Dr. Hunky

Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) enter the house and remind Reba (Reba McEntire) of Dr. Morgan (James Denton), a man Reba has fond memories of dating but are overshadowed by his disappearance. Just then, Dr. Morgan enters Reba's house and explains that he planned to be in Boston only a month or so, but then it turned into a job offer and things cam up. Reba wonders why he did not call. He apologizes and says he missed her and informs her he has moved back and wants to date her. After their date, Reba and Dr. Morgan continue to talk and she finds out that he is not divorced. Reba is upset about dating a married man. Dr. Morgan assures her he will soon be divorced, but she can't help but feel like Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman). Later, Cheryl (Stacey Travis), Dr. Morgan's wife shows up at Reba's door and tells her that she still loves Jack and hopes to repair her marriage. The next day, Reba breaks it off with Dr. Morgan because she doesn't want to be the reason his marriage breaks up, like Barbra Jean did to hers.

Season 5. Episode 17: Reba the Landlord

Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) announces that Brock (Christopher Rich) is selling their home to pay his debt to the IRS. She asks Reba (Reba McEntire) to buy the house so they can continue to live in it. Reba thinks it's a terrible mistake, but her and Van (Steve Howey) decide to buy the house anyway. Reba asks Barbra and Brock to pay a deposit and sign a lease. Barbra Jean is surprised and thinks a lease and rent is unnecessary among friends. Later that day Brock brings the security deposit that Barbra Jean insisted he pay in dimes. Brock informs Reba that Barbra Jean is redecorating the house and is planning to charge Reba for it. Livid, Reba refuses to pay for the redecorating. Just then, Barbra Jean trips on the nicked floor and sprains her ankle. Due to Barbra Jean's injury Reba is served with a subpoena. The following day Reba has to meet with Barbra Jean's lawyer, Mr. Abrams (Benjamin King). Just as Mr. Abrams start questioning Reba, Barbra Jean takes over. Reba reminds Barbra Jean that she asked her to buy their house from them. Barbra Jean informs Reba that having to sign that lease made her feel like a dollar sign instead of Reba's best friend. Reba explains that she bought the house so that she and Brock would have somewhere to live. Barbra Jean is touched by those words.

After the family makes fun of Reba's poor eyesight, she secretly gets laser eye surgery, which leaves her temporarily blind. Barbra Jean insists on helping Reba post-surgery while the rest of the family is away. Later, thinking she is talking to Cheyenne, Reba badmouths Barbra Jean, only to find out she's been talking to Barbra Jean the whole time. Overwhelmed with guilt for the hurtful things she said, and with Brock's help, Reba finally tells Barbra Jean how thankful she is for their friendship.

Season 5. Episode 19: Here We Go Again

Reba (Reba McEntire), Brock (Christopher Rich), Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) sit in Dr. Newton's (Ian Gomez) office, hoping it will be there final session in anger-management therapy the court ordered for them five years ago. If they can convince the doctor that they are happy, he will sign the court papers releasing them from having to attend any more sessions. Cheyenne and Van begin to argue over something petty, as the doctor walks in. He asks to see them individually, where each confide in him the difficulties of marriage. Before Brock and Reba are asked to come in next, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) is escorted into the doctor's office. Dr. Newton asks about her relationship with Reba. Barbra Jean recalls numerous occasions when Reba verbally assaulted her. Dr. Newton later sends Barbra Jean to another therapist to help her with her father issues. Reba takes advantage of her session to detail all of Barbra Jean's craziness that she's had to endure. When Reba finishes, she finds Brock alone in the waiting room, because Cheyenne and Van were sent home for fighting. Despite everything, Dr. Newton signs the release papers. As it turns out, normal families fight, and like the Harts, manage to stick together.

Season 5. Episode 20: Red Alert

Reba (Reba McEntire) is concerned when she learns that Van (Steve Howey) bought Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) a card and a dust-buster for their five year anniversary. She advises him to give it more thought and he turns to Brock (Christopher Rich) for suggestions. Van decides that the two should renew their wedding vows, but to no avail, can't seem to get the proposal right. In the meantime, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) gets a new job selling life insurance. When Reba learns that Barbra Jean will lose her job if she doesn't sell a policy today, she feels bad, and buys the policy. The new policy requires Reba to undergo a physical. Doctor Castleman (Matt McCoy) tells Reba that she has high blood pressure and recommends Barbra Jean stay away from her because she may be the cause. Reba is ecstatic. Reba later returns for a check-up and is disappointed to find that her blood pressure is still high and that Barbra Jean is not the cause of it afterall. It kills Reba to admit that, but she does, and Barbra Jean thanks the good Lord for "Reba's fatty veins."

Season 5. Episode 21: Two Weddings and a Funeral

Reba's making decorations for Van and Cheyenne's wedding ceremony, where they will renew their vows after five years of marriage. Cheyenne is thrilled with the simple yet elegant plans Reba's made. Cheyenne springs the news that she's asked Barbra Jean to help out. Reba's angry, but accepts Cheyenne's request because she's determined not to have anything ruin her daughter's wedding this time. Barbra Jean arrives with news that she's rented a horse and carriage for the wedding and wants Reba to keep the horse in her back yard becaues it can eat all the weeds. The ladies almost come to blows when Cheyenne pops in and embarrasses them. They make pease for her sake. Cheyenne and Van get into an argument over whom to invite. She wants to invite the people from her addiction recovery group. Van argues that they should only invite special friends and family. Finally Cheyenne agrees. As plans continue to evolve, Barbra Jean takes more and more control of the ceremony and the wedding becomes larger and gaudier. All Brock is concerned about is how much it will cost him. Reba fears that the wedding is turning into a circus. Van argues that Cheyenne likes the circus.

Season 5. Episode 22: Reba's Heart

After Reba passes out at Cheyenne and Van's wedding ceremony, everyone gathers in Reba's hospital room waiting for the doctor to finish examining her. While Barbra Jean snaps at the doctor for blocking her view, Van and Cheyenne continue arguing over whether or not they should stay married. Barbra Jean declares that if Reba needs a new heart, or a brain, she can have hers. The doctor says they must wait for the test results to come back before he knows what's going wrong for sure, but it could be serious. Because of Reba's delicate condition, the doctor orders the family to keep her calm...which will be difficult with Barbra Jean around. Cheyenne and Van's fight escalates to the point that Brock is forced to send them out of the room. As Barbra Jean continues to smother Reba with awkward affection, Reba attempts to get out of bed to help the kids smooth things over. Brock wants her to stay in bed until the doctor comes back. Reba reluctantly agrees. Much to Reba's chagrin, Barbra Jean pulls out the video camera she had for the wedding, and starts recording Reba's hospital ordeal. Reba threatens to shove the camera down her throat. In the hallway Cheyenne and Van's argument becomes the main attraction for the folks in the waiting room. Reba wants to know why Barbra Jean keeps filming her, but Barbra Jean is too caught up in the melodrama of the moment to answer. Reba can't stand it any longer, and starts to bolt from the room. Reba finds out that she has to have emergency surgery. Cheyenne and Van pretend to make up for Reba's sake. It turns out that Reba's chart was mixed up with another patient's and she doesn't have to have surgery after all.

Meanwhile, finding out they're having a boy, Van and Cheyenne have to find a way to break the promise Cheyenne made when she was younger to name her first son Brock.

Reba is ordered to relax in order to bring her blood pressure back down, but that is impossible with Brock living in the garage to avoid fighting with Barbra Jean. Meanwhile, Van sees his father in himself as he gets fired for his temperament while coaching Jake's lousy soccer team with Jake being the worst player.

The Series Finale. When Van's poor home improvement skills cause a small fire in their home, Reba allows Van and Cheyenne to stay with her until they get things back in order. Meanwhile, Barbra Jean turns down an out-of-state promotion to make things work with Brock. With everyone at a happy state in their lives, Reba realizes she is not unhappy—she was lucky to be caught in the middle of the craziest, most wonderful family possible. They all realize they had a crazy six years, but made it through because "they're survivors." Reba even announces that she considers Barbra Jean as her best friend. At the end of the episode, a family photo is taken and shown, then the picture from the first episode is shown. During the montage, "I'm a Survivor" plays as the audience applauds.
